Refereeing decisions this season

Don't get me wrong there's been a few, but our finishing has been horrendous, I won't begin on our defence.
We are are where we are in the table, for been poor. not because of mistakes from the officials.

 

This is a joke right?

 

I don’t think anybody doubts we are where we deserve to be. But there is absolutely no doubt poor decisions have cost us points this season Sunderland and Oxford the stand out ones but there have been others

 

Wimbledon, Sarfend Walsall,Plymouth x2 (we were 3 up at one point away from home) and Oxford to name a few have done us mate not refs. etc etc etc etc

 

The Oxford one is, ultimately, dependent on whether the ball had left the area when their player touched it.

That was very close and the assistant didn’t flag, so whilst we don’t have the official confirmation I think now all that muddling was over whether opponents in the penalty area means a retake.

It doesn’t - so whilst the officials made a horrible mess of dealing with it, they probably arrived at the right decision in the end IF the ball left the area before being played.

Agree with those saying it’s not ref decisions that have us where we are. They haven’t helped at times, but it’s simply because we’re not good enough.

 

As I said we deserve to be where we are. But without doubt we would be in a better position without Refs mistakes

 

You know what I just want this season to end... I told someone at Chelsea away after two of is mates got kicked out when Stead scored... enjoy thhis moment as you never know how quick you can fall..... and guess what with more resources we are worst off...

 

An old cliche, I know - But these things 'even' themselves out, over a season.

It's all well and good saying poor decisions have cost us. Yet the flip side is, some have saved us (points). Some appear to forget how many times our own defenders are reckless. The most blatant one I've ever seen (which the ref didn't ), was the famous McArdle 'slam dunk', against the Blades at VP, a few seasons back. I defy anyone in the KOP that day to say they missed it !!

 

It’s our plight now that makes days like that special for supporters

 

I would say as a rule you are right. But I have never known a season as bad as this for decisions going against us. We have been worse than crap at times but should have more points on the table

 

You're quite right Park - There have been more than an 'average' amount, this season. Yet with eight games to go, there's still time for some more to go in our favour.

 

What about the players both Oxford & City in the 18 yard box O'Brien in the 6 yard box and with Payne giving the referee earache he was not looking at the situation in in the box, be that players on the floor or the ball not moving, I've run the dead ball kick through be it does not show when the ball was picked up by the Oxford player.
With regards the rest looking at the playback to me we as about the dead ball kick (because running it through ) slow motion O'Brien looks like he was the last man to touch the ball which would mean a goal kick, after speaking to the linesman he points to the dead ball kick to be retaken, Cadiss kicks the ball back for the retake, then the referee is surrounded by Oxford players wanting him to consult the linesman on this side of the pitch (God knows why) but on hearing his view on the incidence points to the spot, with Robinson punching the air in delight.

 

Don't forget he did not place it firmly and the ball was rolling when he took it - not that it will make a difference to our plight this season.

 

Are you thinking of last season? We beat Wimbledon this season and have never been 3-0 up away this season, that was Walsall last season. Southend we got battered.

 

I've said it on another thread, we've got away with stuff too. Not given goal for Peterboro (wasn't offside), a few challenges that have been tasty from our players on theirs etc etc. All evens out, and I'm sure each and every team in this division also have their own instances -which means they'd all be 6 points better off than they are, and you know what? We'd still be bottom of the table!

 

There's been some awful refereeing performances.

I was under the impression that I'd be seeing some 'proper football' in this league rather than the cheating, diving, time wasting etc. of the Premier League. League One is worse. the referees have no control of games and the time wasting is cringeworthy. The FA are bringing loads of new rules into the game next season, perhaps they should just start by getting some competent referees.

 

Not this season it hasn’t nowhere near

 

And if you read other fans’ views, all teams have been robbed of points at some point. We are not alone with poor officials. So, even if we do lose points because of refereeing decisions, so too have other teams
