If Payne hadn't been out on loan, I doubt his resume would be more impressive than Tomlin's to be fair.

 

He is a pointless signing for Peterborough. He will score goals for them but has goals been their problem this year? Has it ever been a problem for Posh sides in general? Their stats from last season suggested they needed to tighten up at the back and nothing has changed.

He will be commanding a huge wage and taking up plenty of their budget. A chunk which perhaps may have been better served trying to bolster that backline.

He'd better do Posh form at the moment is less than convincing.

He was on £20k a week are Cardiff if reports are to be believed. Even if they are contributing a proportion of that, it is likely to be a large amount of any budget in this division, especially for a team whose average wage was quoted to be under 2.5k per week the other year.

For a club like Sunderland, who receive parachute payments and have Oviedo, McGeady and Cattermole on 30-40k a week, it wouldn't come as a great burden to their budget, but Peterborough don't get parachute payments!

 

Hope there are some signings coming as between the players already gone and those told they can leave we've not much of a team - combine that if Payne goes then we definitely need reinforcements!
