Semi final 2nd leg v villa. Had tickets and had booked holiday in Cape Verde coming back the day before. Snow at Manchester Airport meant the plane that we were coming back on was a day late so we had a free extra days holiday but missed the game!! Result came through just as we finally touched down in Manchester.

96’ Play Off Final - Family holiday already booked. I was a 10yr old with no say on the matter.

Chelsea - had a ticket courtesy of a Chelsea supporting friend. Couldn’t make it as had to work in Paris so spent the whole trade show looking at my phone. Screamed the whole place down when the 4th went in. Even City got a mention in our Global VP’s speech that evening.

My biggest regret was missing The Blackpool second leg play off match. We had tickets booked but the guy who I was going with got taken seriously I’ll on the day and we didn’t get there. Thankfully he made a full recovery. But missing the match was gutting

2nd leg against Villa - simply bottled it.
Burton away in the play offs - couldn’t get a ticket.
Fleetwood away in the play offs - couldn’t get a ticket.

    Chelsea 2 City 4

Still pisses me off that I queued in snow for almost 7 hours and got within a few from front of queue when I was turned away.

When I found out later that people had been allowed to buy unlimited quantities of tickets, that really wound me up.

Even stubs from earlier round didn't do the trick.

I later found out from girl I worked with that her Leeds supporting husband managed to get tickets from a mate so he could go for day out as he hated Chelsea with a passion.

Missed that too. But my fault.

I had the tickets, booked the day off work. However, all my friends decided to give it a miss after the first leg defeat. I decided I didn't fancy travelling over on my own, and decided to miss it too.

Loved the local radio commentary and of course over the moon with the result, but still pissed off for missing it

I was lucky enough to be at Blackpool in 96 and Wolves in 99, games of legend. Having moved away from Bradford in 2004 at the age of 25, following my Geordie wife back to her home land and setting up camp and starting a family in north Tyneside meant inevitably I’d miss the odd “big game”.

Villa 2nd leg I had a ticket but as the forecast was for heavy snow for the north east and Yorkshire I gave up my ticket a couple of days beforehand rather than risk it. I don’t regret it as dancing around the living room with 8 and 6 year old daughters at full time was something I’ll never forget.

Chelsea I knew I was always going to miss. Just starting a new job going to the Millwall replay would’ve meant time off only a few days in which I wasn’t going to do. As I didn’t go to the replay and knew I wouldn’t get a ticket for Chelsea so I’d resigned myself to listening on line. Pure disbelief and my phone was going crackers.

The only one I regret is missing the L**ds game in August 2014. My wife wasn’t due until mid September but on the Sunday prior her waters broke. I’d been at City the day before watching a home defeat to Peterborough and hadn’t even given it a 2nd thought that I wouldn’t be back on the Wednesday for the game against scum. I was still fairly relaxed, 3 days to have a baby and settle at home so I could disappear for the game.....but, my little lad was slow to appear and in the end a Caesarean was sorted for 5pm Monday. Baby born, first question to midwife “is it a boy or girl?” Second question “how long are my wife and baby going to be here?”....response was “a couple of days”....got home with wife and son at 7-30pm on the Wednesday night just before watching it on telly. Worst thing was coming out of the RVI in Newcastle bang opposite St. James Park I was thinking why couldn’t they have drawn them black and white feckwits away. Straight out of hospital straight into the ground

Living in Poland during the Chelsea FA cup season. No matter - I could find pretty much any game online. Remarkably couldn't find any streams. Didn't know whether to be elated or gutted as the reports came through!

Blackpool away is also my favourite game.
I think it is simply that for the first time in my supporting life, they didn't actually let us down.

Two that still hurt, Hull and Blackpool away in the 96 promotion year which was my first season. Hull....I was told by my dad that it being City they'd probably lose and I'd be upset so we weren't going. After a load of guilt, he promised Blackpool away on a school night however after the first leg result he pulled the deal and I listened to the pulse from my bedroom.

Fast forward 17 years and with me living down south, I made him queue through the night for Burton tickets after reminding him we've been behind after the home play off leg before.

Wolves away i missed as I was at Uni then and couldn’t get a ticket. Watched it in a pub in sheffield, a top afternoon it was. And all our great cup wins under Parky i missed all of them being an exile - arsenal, villa, sunderland and Chelsea etc

I saw the Leeds win in the cup though which made up for a few of those i missed altough chelsea is the obvious one i would have loved to have been at. But i’m no longer a ST holder so plenty deserved to go ahead of me, feel for those regulars that missed out tbh. I feel lucky to have seen many of our other top games though, blackpool away is probably still my all time favourite, second leg 3-0 win, even the final game at hull city was very memorable....

Love Tyneside's recollection of dancing round the front room with his young daughters. Fantastic, a priceless memory I would say.
