Chicksen, McGowan, Bruenker, Mellor, NKP, Wright, all need to be replaced, sharpish.

As bad as tonight was, I thought Mellor had a decent game

Tonight was always likely to leave us potless. We just need to move on and write tonight off.

4-6 points against Plymouth and Walsall is doable.

So frustrating we looked well in control for the first 20+ minutes they were getting more and more frustrated then they score from our keepers mistake and the roof falls in conceding 3 in 10 minutes.
That's the trouble when you set up as Hopkin did to frustrate you concede one and your still in with a chance of getting a goal back but going two and conceding a third you have to change the formation with players frightened to do the simple things.
I hope he doesn't set up like that at Posh they know they had lock on there side in the 1-1 draw let's give ourselves a chance, not gung ho but not parking the bus either.

    Agreed.

Then we can look at getting rid of Akpan, Doyle, Reeves, Isherwood, Jones, Reeves, and a bunch of the dead wood.

Everyone seems to forget how to defend after we concede, and then blaming each other when another goes in.

Just no confidence or character. Heads drop as soon as we concede, been the same all season.

That was sobering. We got behind the lads and got nowt. Luton are good, but that was an absolute gift of three points tonight. Payne has to start games imo, only one of ours that looks to have a bit of class, not saying much. Hopefully we can actually give the likes of argyle a game.

Blackpool again, very few characters in the side who can have a go at other players because they are all as bad as each other when called on to show some bottle, I believe given time Hopkin will bring into the club similar players as Parky assembled the trouble is does he have time.

Well, he basically set up the same as he did at Peterborough!!!

Exception being he had Kai up front as it seemed to work with Oxford. Didn't tonight as the midfield got overrun with their balls into the channel and flicks inside to onrunning players.

I think as long as were not cut adrift by Jan and there’s some improvement he’ll probably be ok but a few big defeats and I can see him leaving. God, I’m boring myself with this fabulous insight.

Knew tonight was a step too far for this side

It just goes to show if we lose any of our starting xi we cannot cope at all

Dire recruitment seen as 2 of our current starting xi have been signed in the last 2 weeks

Well we just have to cut him slack tbh. He is trying to set up not to lose with only few players he can actually rely on. There is no point in having a hissy fit every time we lose, we are going to lose matches, such is the dreadful recruitment over the summer.

Ironically having lost 4-0 I don’t feel overly disappointed. Agree, for the first 20mins we looked comfortable, but without any threat. As you say though, the danger of our set up was that once we conceded there was nothing that carries any threat.

The goals were all soft. Defending was poor and a uncharacteristic mistake from O’Donnell.

The second half we were considerably better going forward and Payne made a huge difference. It’s really hard to make a case for why he isn’t staying every game. I struggled to see why the goal didn’t stand from the corner and believe we were good value for a goal at that stage.

Unfortunately, this was the type of game we really didn’t need after Saturday, especially with the forced changes. At least tonight there was effort and desire. We won’t play Luton away every week (thank goodness).

Just hope they take this on the chin and move on very quick. We have played a hell of a lot worse this season that’s for sure.

    For the record:
    * Mellor had a decent game
    * Payne has to start, if fit
    * Chicksen, unfortunately, looked vulnerable
    * Doyle badly badly badly needs support!
