No, said he wanted Chicksen in and said Chicksen was excellent.

Chicksen was shi&e. Chicksen is shi&e.

Hopkin doesn't know what he's doing so no doubt Wood will be on the bench.

Evening Simon, you're right I wasn't there but this result is not good enough. Also, Hopkin's subs for a game we were supposedly trying to win were pathetic. Just my opinion.

Do you actually read what you post? It was you that claimed that this game was a 'banker' not in our favour. No matter how bad our form was i did not expect us to lose to opposition effectively three divisions below us. Anyone who thinks we would have got beaten before todays game needs to give their head a shake. Yes we are a poor side this season but i would always expect us to beat part time opposition.

RT you were clearly in the minority of fans who thought we would get something out of this game.

Getting to the ground in the worst downpour I have seen for years, was absolutely soaked before it even started. It was obvious from the frantic forking of certain parts of the pitch that there was a problem and the spray that was coming off the pitch as the players warmed up. Within five minutes the ball was stopping dead, particularly on the flanks, and to be honest Aldershot started the better and our defence looked the mess it has been all season. The one exception in the early stages was Wood who I thought was good throughout the match. NKP was all over the place in and Rendell was giving both our central defenders a torrid time. After they scored we came more into the match and had our chances to get level but more about our strikers in a moment. I thought we were on top for most of the second half and certainly deserved the equaliser when it came - and credit where its due, not only did NKP score but he was much more assured as the match went on. A draw was probably about fair but unless you were there it is difficult to say just how difficult the conditions were and it is a credit to both teams that they just got on with it, both played with honest endeavour and there were no bookings despite the atrocious conditions. It was testimony to the quality of the pitch that it did not cut up but at times it did get a bit farcical.
Not going to rate all the players but Lewis O'Brien was really good today, no little skill and worked his socks off. Payne tried to make things happen and it was good to see the return in the 2nd half of Jim O'Brien and Devine. The 3 strikers though looked to be National League standard - they worked hard but in the roles they are in the team for they looked so average. But today is not a day to criticise the team, they were honest, committed and fully deserve to still be in the cup. I gather Julian Rhodes was at the game and I had a quick chat with Simon Parker, it sounds like the club has been given a bit of a lift this week and he said they are doing all they can to get a couple of additions in - but must be the right players and characters and coming to us for the right reasons.
Final points - I have seen us at Aldershot a number of times in recent years and I have seen us play worse than I saw today. You have to put todays performance and result in context with how low we have been in recent weeks and I was heartened by a number of things today.
MOM - Lewis O'Brien (closely followed by Connor Wood)

Totally agree. We were huge underdogs and managed to fight for a draw against huge adversity. I have to say that drawing against Aldershot is up there for me along with the Chelsea FA cup result. A lot of teams are beaten before kick off as soon as they see a team like Aldersot in the tunnel lining up next to them. As soon as the name came out the hat it conjured up emotions of the heady days of former cup glories. I am still pinching myself that we succeeding in matching them. They must be feeling pretty humiliated tonight drawing to a league one side.

I'm beside myself wwith excitement that Aldershot, with all their history, will be visiting our modest home. These are the nights that remind me why I am a football fan. Bravo Park!

Evening mate - Aldershot played well first half and it was a game a couple of weeks ago we could easily have rolled over and lost, but we didnt. The result is not ideal but there was plenty of heart. In trying to win the game I know where you are coming from but we had 3 strikers on who are currently just not doing it, we have such a poor bench that provides so few options and in midfield Payne had run himself into the ground, Akpan looked knackered and JOB and Devine kept our hold on the match when they came on. We desperately need another striking option into the club asap but to say Hopkin's subs were pathetic is unfair - in the context of the game and the options he had I dont think he got it wrong

You’re telling me the majority of fans thought we would lose to a second tier non league outfit Keefly? I don’t believe you. I know we are garbage at the moment but i would always expect us to beat non league opposition.

I just don't go along with fans being categorised, we all see things differently and although they might not agree with our views they are entitled to express them.

Do you how much of a loser you sound with this comment?

Seriously, grow a pair and get some ambition.

We were not underdogs going into the game at all and the conditions were not a leveller.

We should always win against poor opponents but if you were to pick a potential upset before the round this would have right up there.

Cheers Simon, good to get a review from someone who was there. Usually I'm as critical as anyone over this lot, but after just seeing the highlights it's hard to be harsh after them conditions, they may as well as had a game of water polo instead.

I'm sure if the ball stops dead then the game isn't meant to start, hence why refs bounce the ball as a test when a games in doubt. I think the FA should be talking to that ref and asking him why it did, as there is no way it should have been played.

Well done to those that made the effort to go though.
