Remember it well , when walking over it used to shake and get a echo of your footsteps, think it came out near I think the tavern in the town ( i think that was its name )next to the theatre royal or some were near there

Great picture I had that on the C&B forum when we were posting pictures of the old days of Bradford and Bradford City, you say it didn't look safe, I only walked from Canal Road to the game with several beers down my neck so I never noticed, after the game it was up to the top to Manningham Road to catch the Bradford Moor bus.
But looking at that picture the building with the flag and the one to the left are opposite the retail park (Cape Street) so it would have been where the new Hamm Strasse Road is now.

Bit of fancy footwork, and my 3 1/2 inches would have flown over there;)

Talking about this bridge ........ Anyone remember Midland Road Car Auction setting up ?

I bought my first ever car there .......... A real SHED (Trust me ;) ) I was only 17, just passed my test, and saw a Humber Hawk, in 'good' condition - It sold for £65 !! My budget was limited, so ended up buying an old 1962 Austin A40. The Layshaft was knackered, but I found a mk II gearbox, and modified it to fit. (The thrust bearing arm was 1/2" out of line, on it's pivot.) GREAT ...... All OK for for six months, or so .... But then the floorpan started to drop, and fall away. So I cut up some door panels from an old Cortina mk I, and 'patched' her up. I got 12 months and over 5,000 miles from her ! :) Not bad for £32.50 LOL. ?

OH, the memories, of how Manningham used to be ! ;)

It must be in our DNA .......

Following the Austin, I 'up graded' (3 months after) ......... Picked up a bargain (?) Hillman Imp van (Sage Green) 22nd Dec 1975 !! Cost me £100 notes. (I was washing his cars or else it would have been £150 !!)
Anne the Van, I called her ! (Corny, I know !!) Fold away back seat - Two Army sleeping bags covered with imitation 'Leopard Skin' cloth, and four extra speakers - an' we were good to go ....... If ONLY the girls had agreed ? :(
Ah well, at least me an' my two good mates went all over the UK, that year - No kidding ..... about 20k miles in 15 months, totally Brill ! The best £100 I ever spent, LOL. :)

The bridge was still there in 84/85 as that was my first season watching City and can remember walking across it as my dad used to park on Cape Street. I’m fairly certain that we walked across it before a home game vs either Villa or Man City in the 87/88 nearly season on a Tuesday night as there was a massive scrap going on at the midland road side of the bridge as we were trying to get past

Probably the night we played Man City when the lad Paul Stewart scored a hat trick and we lost 4-2.

@Bronco@Bronco asked to have this thread stickied but rather than that we have bought the Gallery addon. I'll get that setup over the weekend so if any of you have some good pictures from the past go hunt them out so we can get a good start on the collection
