From the way Mason talked, it was clear that he strongly identifies with City, you get the impression that he would have stayed but that the current direction is not one he feels comfortable with.

The current squad had to be shushed as they kept talking.

How playing for City had been defining moments in the careers of Jones, Morais and McMahon.

Scannell didn’t appear to have any obvious back problem.

Current squad like little schoolboys having to sit through an assembly.

Yeah I noticed many of the current players leaving almost 'under a cloud'. Either they still couldn't give a toss or the succession of tales of what it means to play for City has made them sit up and take notice. Hopefully the latter.

Most of the squad seemed there, certainly O'Connor, Ball, Payne, Mellor, Gibson, Scannell, KP, ponytail keeper, LOB, McGowan and I must have missed some.

Of the ex-players including Jonny Mac, wind-up Tony, Jones and Morais, the latter spoke particularly well. As did Baldwin.

Bit weird why Mezza, Billy Clarke and Stead were announced to great applause but never got to the stage, they were definitely there.

Paul Jewell to start, both David Baldwin & James Mason gave answers where you didn’t need to read too hard between the lines, Simon Parker, Gary Jones and of course Tony McMahon had to have the last word. Hope the rumours that changes are coming as tonight showed what the club means to us all what is was and still could be but for one man. Let’s hope he does return from “holiday”.

Thanks for the updates chaps. Sounds like it was an interesting and intriguing night.
Now if we can only get back to being the club we were.

NKP was there. I was surprised how small O’Connor and NKP seemed when you see them close by.

I felt O’Connor accepted responsibility for the way things were not panning out.

A member of the audience spoke passionately about the very positive impression that his young son had got, when Morais spent time talking to him at his first match, Bury away. Morais remembered and then there was discussion about players connecting with fans!

A great night, well organised. I thought it telling that most in the room simply ignored the current squad. Very few asking for selfies or autographs. It must have been awkward for them. I hope some of the "Club DNA" permeated into their subconscious and they begin to understand what it means to have the privilege of playing for our club..

Thanks BB. Hope it showed the current players what it means to us...Don't think we have a 'song' for any current players...not like 'he's magic you know'...

Agree, let's hope ER has a big garden he needs to tend to...

Glad it was a success (or at least sounds like it was). It’s a tragedy that such an event for Darby is being held but nice to see what great affection there is between players and fans from that era of City. Hopefully we can get back to that some time soon.

Great to hear that so many of our history makers turned up. Join in with those hoping that the current crop learned something about how special those times were and how with a combination of things, not least of which are hard work, desire and commitment to a cause, it could come to them. Surely it says something to them that a "journeyman" like Gary Jones is treated like god in these parts. (And I hope that is not taken as disrespectful to Jones either). One last question, did we get a chorus of "everywhere we go" in the style of Darbs on that bus?

Without question this event has been the highlight of the season so far! Some true leadership back on display and real words of inspiration from Baldwin, Mason and legend Gary Jones! Great reminder of who we are and what it means to be BCAFC! Shame that Hopkin didn't front up and missed a great opportunity to really connect with a large gathering of supporters!

Thanks for the updates BB, sadly in Spain. Have Liverpool made any announcement about doing anything for OUR man?

I'm disgusted to read the current squad had to keep being sushed, it shows a complete lack of respect mixed in with a big helping of immaturity and lack of discipline. It doesn't leave me feeling hopeful they will have taken anything of any value away from the evening.
On a more positive note, the fact that certain people were there last night and were allowed to speak makes me think the rumour a certain someone won't be returning from his holiday might have legs.

No, not as yet but I am highly convinced they will be planning something.

Hopefully, Bradford City & Liverpool are talking about playing a game for Darby.

O Connor is all talk. He's utter shi&e as a footballer. One of City's worst ever players.

Watch him closely. Boy he's bad.
