You can read a lot into that 74% drop. It did coincide with the peak of the financial crash and it's aftermath, so who knows?

If it was a ‘none story’ with zero substance, then why print it. He doesn’t routinely respond to lots of rumours!

From my experience it kind of relies on you buying at a decent price and showing that the business has potential to add value and then sell at a better price than you paid. If they're trying to asset strip they're doing a rubbish job of it!

Yer this is also an interesting point for me unlike two mates who are in it together and have known each other for years.

I know it’s from what is basically an amateur blog rather than a proper professional news outlet but there is a lack of journalist integrity to not mention 2009 was right in the financial crash which saw most companies have a downturn (and in some industries massive downturns) and then that by 2012 we were into recovery which saw most companies start to bounce back. It’s worse than Daily Mail level and that’s saying something, articles should be used to educated people not push an agenda harder by intentionally leaving things out so the reader doesn’t even have the chance to draw their own conclusions

    Edit
Also looking at the turnover figures (couldn't find profits) it seems they were on the rise under Rahic as well with the new guy only jumping turnover by €10mill and they fel €60mill in his first full year. Profits could be completly different mind you but this kind of highlights the problem when an article is written without any of the authors own research

I suggest that you copy and paste the above onto the comments section in the WOAP article, the author could then respond. There are 21 responses and @Timbo@Timbo and the info@wharfedalelodge.co.uk comment are identical, so you would not be doing anything new.

Good effort there. Agree with your comments on the balance of the article.

I agree,if there is any truth in rumours about players not being paid we are well and truly stuffed.

Rumours everywhere and most are doom and gloom.

In business, when things are going wrong and cash flow problems arise, you generally do two things, hide it from people and try improve cash flow and that is often when the first part unravels.

If rumours of asking box holders to pay instalments early is true, that might indicate problems.

I really hope we aren't looking at anything resembling administration as that really could fast track the club to oblivion.

I've got a Masters in Business Economics. That's exactly the reason I haven't bought a football club :D

Rumours are a real problem when there is any unrest amongst a fan base. It's just so easy for people to say something they have made up and it to take hold without any basis in such an environment. Most people even if they wanted to just don't have the time or expertise to delve deeper so it's so easy to become 'fact'. It's one of the worst things about the internet really as it makes them spreading much easier and coupled with the level of professional journalism getting lower (The media needs more sensationalism to compete with social media and there is less fact-checking that goes on than before)

I know you aren't but the problem with those who take asking the box holders for the instalments they owe is it can be a case of 2+2=5. If the club is going to have to spend on transfers in Jan then they obviously will need money to do that, while the obvious way to fund it is to get rid of the surplus players at the club you can't guarantee you will get rid of them and even if you do it could be hours before the window shuts so if you are needing the money from them it limits the ability to bring people in. So being more aggressive at getting debtors to pay up sooner could be a sign of getting ready for Jan so the incoming is less reliant on getting people out the door asap

Why would you get abuse over there? You could rewrite it using the core information that you have relied on.

If you put it something like this, which is 'toned' down, then WOAP could reply:-

The Financial Crisis of 2008 impacted on many firms around the globe. So 2009, the date Rahic became involved in HAWE Hydraulic, was right in the financial crash which saw most companies have a downturn (and in some industries massive downturns) and then that by 2012 there was a finacial recovery which saw most companies start to bounce back. It is not clear if this was intentionally left out so that the reader doesn’t even have the chance to draw their own conclusions

    Edit
Also looking at the turnover figures (couldn't find profits) it seems they were on the rise under Rahic as well with the new guy only jumping turnover by €10mill and they fell €60mill in his first full year. Profits could be completely different mind you but this kind of highlights the problem when an article is written without any of the authors own research.

You get your point over, in a way which invites a considered response.

    All the best.

    Hi Simon

Thanks for your message. Edin joined Hawe in 2009 - when the financial crisis began - as a board member who was responsible for Finance and HR. He became MD in 2011, the year profits then fell by 77%, and then left the company in April 2012. I hope this helps.

The same year you say profits fell by 77% turnover was higher though. It’s perfectly possible that there are reasons for it be it reinvestment into infrastructure or even something like paying off the previous MD. Certainly the fact profits fell by 77% and then returned to almost the exact amount a year later does suggests it’s some form of exceptional cost. There needs to be more information to really draw a conclusion on it

Financial crash started in 2007 and had really taken hold in 2008. I think its peak was 2011.
The real point is that Hawe is not a football club and whilst there may be transferable skills the two positions are not the same. Rahic has obviously brought his model for a football club to BCFC. It's failed miserably.

    Where's @Dennis@Dennis
As the overlord of accountants on our site, based on the very limited information presented, please can you advise on HAWE Hydraulics 2009-2012 :)
