Agree. Going down, can't see what Hopkin can do with this shower. A few weeks back my dream was staying up whilst blooding kids for next season, now it's just staying up.

There is not a manager on Earth that could stop today's team from being absolutely HAMMERED by the team of 18 months ago.

 

Thats not a slight on Accrington, more an observation of todays game and comments from their fans coming out of the game. We genuinely are one of if not the worst team in the division. I’ve genuinely not seen one game this season where i can say we were the better side. Not sure how we pull out of this.

Doubt it personally. Before taking the job he must have anticipated this could be a scenario he would have to deal with and how he would manage it. If he hadn't it would say much about him. Could be the job as it stands is too big and he hasnt the management experience to deal with it. Like most , if not all managers, he clearly has a way he wants to play but it isn't working with what he has available and perhaps hasn't the options known to him to turn it round ?

Or more likely the players are so poor it doesn't matters how he sets them up !

 

I think you know full well who I am alluding too.

I don’t believe 75% of the garbage that is thrown at the current owners regarding the behind the scenes “Nastee” work they apparently do. Making players cry and taking pictures down of McCall etc.

However the footballing side I know is one they have got wrong time and time again.

From the McCall sacking which started for me the previous summer when I stated they should have kept the same squad and added 5 or 6 quality to add depth, we would have gone up under McCall. However they aimed to cut costs and it backfired. McCall had some poor results and was not helping himself but we signed 4 or 5 players and he should have had enough credit in the bank to survive until at least the summer before being shown the door if it didn’t work. I think we heard Grayson would be interested and we panicked and put him in place.

Abbott survived that episode and stabbed his old manager in the back and stayed as head of recruitment somehow despite his failings in the transfer market.

Then Grayson walked and we had the worst summer in terms of manager recruitment known to any clubs ever in England. Taking 6 weeks and then appointing Collins who turned into a disaster. All the while we were recruiting players which had to be Abbott and Collins and Edin.

Collins went and why didn’t abbott and the other one go with him? Give Hopkin a clean slate and bring his own men in and back him with a compo budget if he wanted someone im sure they would come.

My point is they are so naive in the footballing side it’s untrue. I genuinely think they think the English game would be easy and they could come here with their German ideas and it would work. Now that it doesn’t they are too stubborn to change. We need all the budget going to Hopkin, let him have the say on transfers and get rid of Abbott and co. Otherwise it’s going south

I think Edin had a failed footballing career and thinks if he helps with transfers and picking the manager etc the fans would say it was all him if it went right. However it’s goign the other way and he’s naive and getting it all wrong.

I don’t think city fans are like that and they would warm to them both more if they took a back step and appointed good man and gave them the resources to do the job, City fans would like them and warm to them.

Mild improvements such as the pitch and no transfer leaks etc now but the footballing side is god awful. And that’s why we all go on a Saturday? To see a good side. Feels a long time since we saw that.

 

It’s funny isn’t it? Everyone screams for more investment and to spend more money on players but only Wyke had transfer money spent on them in that squad.

Imagine if the owners did splash the cash after the play off final defeat, we would have been in the championship now with good income from TV, sponsirshsp etc etc. Doing it on the cheap means the only way is down.

 

I try not to think about it anymore. It makes me so angry.
