Nedum Onuoha would do. As would Peter Whittingham. Karl Henry could be a good shout. Ross Wallace too.

Wouldn't it have been better to sign a player like this in say, the summer? You know, so our midfield would have a player of experience and higher level accumen. And maybe, just maybe, we could have recruited Hopkin at the beginning of this summer period, because, well, he was available and looking for a job. And you know, this could have given our new manager an experienced quality midfielder, whilst our new manager/head coach would have had all summer to give his input into the players he wanted to work with and mould these players into the unit he wanted. Pretty basic football club ownership really.

 

It’s why the development team is a nonsense. I’d swap those 5 for 2, even 1 quality first team player.

 

Whilst you can not legislate for injuries I would expect a transfer committee to have recruited enough players of quality to address this occurring, the weaker areas and able to play to the system they were going to adopt. What we have seen displayed is players playing poorly and not able to deliver effectively the system we wished to adopt - very poor. The recruitment has been found wanting on a number of occasions since R and R took over the latest appearing to piecemeal and has resulted in the club now going backwards - something needs to change.

 

Why did we not have these injury issues under Parky?

Davies & Clarke were quite injury prone.
Morals & Anderson were long term in Parky's last season.

Apart from that, I don't remember a lot of injuries.

The team was full of pro's who played 40 games a season.

I think that’s the point. If you can do it in addition to properly investing in the first team then fine. We’re doing it at th expense of the first team. And then signing crap 19 year olds on loan anyway.

 

Maybe the fitness coach was better.

I think it's clear to see that the point being made is that we should not be having to look outside the transfer window. It's clear to me at least.

Why not? If a decent player is still available, say a Adam Hamill or Karl Henry, shouldn’t we maybe try to sign him?

(We may have already tried to get them before, but they could be biding their time to see the total offers they get, which anyone would probably do).

Can we please take Payne out of that list. Without him we’d be bottom of the league with probably about 2 goals scored. He is a class act who we have bypassed with our shocking tactics so far and he is still somehow our top scorer. He is immense
