I know it's a pointless cup really but experience of actually winning things is hard to get as there are only so many competitions and only 1 team can win each so getting that experience where you can is always a plus.it will do the players good and as long as they aren't all shipped out that will benefit the club next season even if it's only a small but

His pre-game chat was decent as well tonight. He’s no sky sports expert and his bumbling analysis is often all over the place, but I don’t mind his commentary. If you could inject the passion he has for the club into most of the playing staff, we might dangerous!

Actually enjoyed that game tonight for a change, nice to finally go home with a win (wasn’t our last win against donny too coincidentally??)

Kev Mac has to be a starter from now on, balls to smallwood. He was great tonight. Gilliead, Halliday, chapman, and young all played well too. Thought donny were a very poor team and we should have put them to bed well before cooks sending off

Let’s hope it’s another home tie next

I was about to say 'it's regionalised and we are playing Blackpool'. But you are correct.

I thought that Brighton had requested the EFL to allow them to play Wycombe away rather than play the game at home.

The rules for this competition at this stage :
    1. Semi Finals.
      1. The four winners from the quarter-finals will contest the

        semi-finals.

      2. Semi-final pairings are determined by means of an unseeded draw

        with no regionalisation. .

      3. The Club drawn first is the Home Club.

      4. Matches will be played by way of only one leg and be of ninety

minutes duration with no extra time. If the scores are level at the end of the Match then the winners shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with procedures as approved by IFAB.

possible that Brighton allowed to play at home if they wish, depending on the draw.

Despite Premier League games having a minimum of 30 cameras in them for TV and VAR which clubs have access to the footage, they will also use a data company like Prozone who install 8 of their own cameras and will still deploy their own cameras, some permanent static cameras others movable temp cameras to allow them to capture data on specific things that the TV or Prozone cameras might not allow full focus on. So it could very well be that, they want to focus on something specific and have this person or maybe multiple people filming to gather that specific data

I know your frustration as I see it at United too. It's strange how managers can get blinkers to certain players. Antony basically plays for United when fit but is so one footed and predictable he can't produce an end product (against Newport the only time he beat their FB was for the first goal and that was him beating the defender on the other side of the pitch, not the side he actually plays on. I can't remember but I think your wingers beat Newport's FB more than Antony) but having already caused Sancho to explode by favouring Antony no matter how bad he plays it also looks likely Pellestri will leave despite being a regular in the Uruguay national side, and Amad also. Blinkers by managers drive players who atleast show more drive to perform and improve away when a manager should be both giving youngsters plenty of time to assimilate while giving the seniors players that drive most need to up their game. As you said Pointon could very well do what Cole Palmer did at Man City and get frustrated enough to force a move, if you are lucky it will be up so e levels but he could easily end up taking an initial sideways step which might cone back and bite you before moving up to better thjnga

Well you were the one asking the bloody question .

"There was a man with an 1980's video camera filming the game, not sure why....the games are filmed"

Yeah that looks to have perhaps been the case.

Only the regulations around the group games indicate that the invited sides will play all matches away from home.

Nothing seems to be stipulated from the knock out rounds onwards. Maybe it's a goodwill thing

    That's more like it.
A goal worthy of winning any game.
Kevin McDonald orchestring our midfield and Gilly well worthy of the captains armband.
    That Arch is getting closer.

Saw a good stat on Twitter earlier -
11 teams have won the Trophy and then gone on to play in the PL.
    It can be a springboard.

I'm pretty sure that it was part of the agreement when the U21's joined, that they couldn't play at home.

Just seen the result and the team.

Playing a stronger team in the BSM trophy than a league game seems absolutely bizarre.

If I was Pointon though I'm getting out the first chance I get. He's been treated disgracefully by the hoof merchant.

    McCann moaning about the injuries.

Reckons Tomkinson “stamped” on a player for the first injury, second got “shoved” into the hoardings, and Gillead “went straight through” Ben Close.

I’d have to watch the hoardings one again but the supposed “stamp” and the Gillead incident looked accidental and innocuous to me.

    good performance

I struggle to understand GA’s perspective on things. We play better in the cup because we play on the front foot. But the moment we go back to the league, we play defensive football an lose, badly

I can understand that with Mcdonald, you have to ease him in due to injuries an lack of fitness but he has to be starting regularly. Hes good enough. If we had him last year whilst he was a year younger instead of Smallwood, we’d of gone up. A playmaker and a grafter. Thats what you need in the middle of the park and thats what we have in Mcdonald an Gillead. The perfect blend to a successful midfield partnership.

CB wise, I felt the trio of Tomkinson, Platt & Kelly did well. Its gonna be baffling to see Taylor back in the side on saturday but we all know it’s inevitable

Richards showed why im so critical of Ridehalgh. Thats what you need on the left hand side. Pace, energy, positivity. The team now has balance as we can attack on both flanks

Im not sure what the feck Cook was doing for either challenge. Anyone able to tell me which game hes gonna miss because of it?

Young was quality. Hope all those people here that said “he doesnt wanna play here” “hes got an attitude problem” “he has a problem with city” can feck off. The lad showed grit an determination. You could see how motivated he is to do well here an im glad to see him putting a solid shift in. I just hope that GA isnt stubborn an is willing to alter our tactics to get the best out of him

So, with tonight's win, this season's competition has earned us £160,000 in participation/prize money so far. We will also get a £20,000 facility fee for Sky TV coverage in the semi final, which will bring the total up to at least £180,000.

    These are this season's figures:

    Participation fee £20,000

    Each group game win = £10,000 (draw = £5,000)

    2nd round win £20,000
    3rd round win £40,000
    Quarter final win £50,000
Semi final - no prize money, but each club gets a £20,000 facility fee for Sky TV coverage
Winner gets £100,000 (Runner up gets £50,000)

Watched on iFollow, as I have done with every round, and thought it was better than the dross we've been served up in the league - but thought Doncaster were very poor. They'll be gutted to have picked up so many injuries, but that isn't what made them lose. They lost because they just never showed up.

This trophy is such a bizarre and anomalous experience.

We chalk up a series of dour performances in the league, then win one in the cup against opponents that don't really seem to perform (Derby did not even have a shot on target), then adjust our line up accordingly for the next league game - only to be let down.

I don't know what to expect on Saturday, now, except for it to generally be a tougher game. We beat Wimbledon away, but I'm not sure we were the better team, and the goalscorer, the great Osadebe, has now left the club.

It does seem a little strange that Pointon keeps getting overlooked in favour of Oduor, who nobody seems to know his strengths.
Admittedly BP has struggled in some games but not in my opinion anywhere near the extent that CO has.
Someone said he looked pissed off at the end last night.
    You can probably understand why.
