That may well be the case - but guess work isn’t a reason to improve a players contract.
And definitely not at City - Christ, Halliday is out of contract in four months and we’ve not extended his.

Very true, he needs to earn a new contract by performing for us in the remaining games this season. If he performs well then talk about a new contract.

Why does he need a new contract?

He's already contracted until the end of next season?

Do what a good manager in any organisation should do and spend time with the fella and work out what motivates him; if that turns out to be more money and/or a move to a higher division then make him see that his best bet of achieving that is knuckling down and performing well for us for the rest of the season. Ultimately that will be his only option if he's still here come Feb 2nd; otherwise his career will go massively backwards.

It's not rocket science on either GA or JY's part. It's what's called a win-win. The skill is making JY both see and believe that. It comes down to man management.

Most of us who have managed people have turned around someone whom a previous manager, Hughes in this case, thought was under-performing. Flynn's already done it to with him to a large degree. You won't get a 100% success rate but the beauty with Young is that he clearly has talent, is young enough to improve and already has potential suitors; he just needs to build on that for his own sake and everyone will benefit.

If only enthusiasm and effort won you games eh?
Just remind us, how many goal has Alex got this season compared to Cook?

Ones a CM and ones a ST, ridicilous comparison comparing goals. Cook has more goals than Halliday and Walker.

Cook in the main has been shite this season. He has dropped off. Defending him while attacking other players is bizare.

Id keep both but lets not pretend Cook is having a great season.

In general Cook has done incredibly well to get 13 goals (I think) in a team that creates absolutely nothing.
To say he has in the main been shite is bizarre

As Grumpy is suggesting I think, contracts can be renegotiated mid term , for footballers that means higher and extensions?

He’ll be on a low salary at City and his agent will inform him how much Carlisle are willing to pay him therefore unsettling him even more. The same thing will have happened with Lewis. If Young performs well at City we could then offer him a better deal but not based on 4 good months at Swindon. However we aren’t good at offering better deals to keep players so I suspect we’ll just sell him next week.

Nobody is pretending that. He was never going to replicate last year's effort but he is still our top scorer this season and I just think the abuse he gets is uncalled for.

Far too complacent due to no competition on the bench.

Fans saying someone has played well or not isnt abuse. Those name calling , in Cooks case as an example , being fat are just behaving like 9 year olds . Don’t waste your time on them .

GA saying that he has cropped the squad to a more manageable size now.

Have I missed something. I make it 3 in, including Young, and 4 out

I mean.... Tyriek Wright is a lot shorter than Vadaine Oliver? Other than that, we've not really dropped in size baring one Afoka.

You've missed nothing. On balance, we have currently reduced the squad size by 1. Considering we are apparently still looking at bringing one or two more in and there haven't been any further enquiries about any of our players from other clubs that might want to take them out , we could potentially end up with a bigger squad come the end of the window. How very, very Bradford City.

Yes that comment didn't quite ring true but he might know something we aren't privy too in terms of those who train and those who don't like long term injured players Patto and Walker been two notable absentees.

Wimbledon held strong and are getting their money. Ipswich have bid £2m for Ali Al-Hamadi, the other 21 year old goalscorer in L2. He's away at the Asia Cup, Ipswich are having to sort out his medical out in the Middle East.

He's scored 27 in 48 apps (40 starts) since joining this time last year. Wonder if they'll spend to push on this season? Might be a few new talents to great us on Feb 3rd.
