Wouldn't be surprised to see Chapman go. Doesn't fit into any roles in the 352/343 we are running at the minute and with only 6 months left on his deal, he might want to go and play after so long out.

Stubbs too as it seems Alexander just doesn't fancy him since the Notts game, which he did look sloppy. Doesn't seem to be the player he was last season and maybe lacks the mobility to play in a fast and intense press side?

Oh yes, it's all fun and games at Swindon. Their owner did a fantastic fans forum the other week. :joy: probably on YouTube by now.

I agree with those 2. I like Chapman, but cannot see him getting much game time under GA, so probably best for all concerned to allow him to leave if any club is interested.

Stubbs also seems out of favour, and to be honest, he could go for me.

If Young does return then he will have to fight for his place. There is no automatic place for him. GAs style is intense which doesn’t seem to be Youngs forte

Worse than I imagined BB . I read quite a bit of their forum this afternoon a many comments about drug dealers involvement and money laundering . Apparently £6m “ disappeared” from turnover in 12months. Intruiging?

Personally id keep Chapman. Just because he doesnt fit into the current style of play, doesn't mean that GA may not want to switch things up in future, should opposition teams figure us out, or should we be losing a game.

As for Stubbs, I still prefer him over Ash Taylor. He reads the game better. He's just had a poor first half of the season, but to be fair, as has the rest of the team

Yeh I dont see Stubbs going anywhere. He will get an opportunity at some point - he may well leave for free in the summer. Id also keep Chapman. If Tulloch and Afoka are going back, Walker only a knock away from a few games out and Pattisons recent fitness concerns then he may well be needed at some point.

I agree, there is no guarantees for Young but I do think we will see a different player with a fire in his belly return to the club. I think the problem was Hughes, not Young.

Oh that will have been @Fordy117@Fordy117 - always impressed with how they are run, their recruitment is always spot on and they will always be challenging. A blueprint for L2 football.

Speaking of which, he is very very quiet at the moment - 5 wins on the bounce and just the odd appearance. When the chips are down he is on here 24/7 attacking Rupp, Sparks, training ground, players......

Deffo keep Chapman. He should be the number one replacement for Walker when/ if he is injured

No he wouldn’t Pattison would . He’s bringing on Pattison now when taking Walker off , Chapman isn’t in the matchday squad!

Chapman was the number one replacement for Walker last season but failed in my opinion. I’d put Pointon in there before him.

Bobby failed in that position too. Didnt MH try him there on at least one occassion.

Walker or Pattison at the moment Inspector?

I don't think Pointon has the nounce or experience to play a number 10 in the same way that Walker/ Chapman/ Pattinson do.

Weird one with Pointon, another victim of the system change. You'd like to think we have some contract talks in place to cover us but everything seems to have gone quiet around him.

I know we should keep some wingers around in case we change system, but we have a lot of wide players say around at the minute knowing they wont make the team, so how many do we keep or look to move on in Jan to give some budget back and build on the roles for the 352?

Chapman and Pointon be enough if we need some width - Wilson another but can see him going out on loan out of the 3.

Ideally all the loans go back for me, although it looks like Ogeyoke is staying around.
We need to shift Derbyshire, Osadibe, Ridehaulgh and possibly Stubbs, who is the slowest 20 odd year old i have ever known. Taylor could also move on, but we do need some cover and i prefer his height, he is probably as slow as Stubbs.
Young and East back, neither should have left and both point to how poor Mr Hughes was at man management.
The squad should still be big and good enough to cope, even without incomings, but i think we will get a couple.

I honestly cant put an order on any, none have really had a shot under GA apart from Pointon. He doesn't seem the type to want to keep a lot around the squad, especially if they only play positions he isn't going to use.

But we have Chapman, Pointon, Wilson, Odour, Tulloch & Afoka who play out wide as well as Walker, Osadebe & Smith who have either started or subbed into wide roles so far this season. If Young comes back as expected, he can play wide too if need be. With Chapman and Pointon out of contract and seemingly out of favour (just as they don't make the bench lately), he might be more ruthless and move Chapman on, maybe loan Pointon to have him playing weekly for 6 months and give him a new deal. Then cancel the loans and keep Wilson & Odour with Walker, Smith and Osadebe also able to play wide and chase a game if needed. Still enough options if a change does come in.

Also, if we are spent up, Chapman is surely on the most of the wingers? Another reason he might be the one to go. For me I'd keep Chapman but things like budgets and the player wanting gametime might well be a factor. Keep one of Wilson and Odour and maybe loan out Pointon if he isn't going to be used.
