But your solution to the problem of changing the manager so often is not to stop sacking the manager's every 10 months but to instead offer them shorter contracts

He is more than a failed manager at MK Dons. Let’s be fair.

At Fleetwood won playoffs in L2 and was promoted.

at Scunthorpe finished in playoffs in L1

Salford. Promoted from Nat Lgue. Reached final of EFL trophy. Sacked when in L2 playoff positions - a decision Gnev says he regrets.

Motherwell - finished fifth and gets them in Europa Conference League.

MKD 10 points from first four matches. Wins manager of month. Sacked after a losing run.

He knows the division and has scouted teams in it. Will have knowledge of possible transfer targets - albeit now within a new budget.

Solid, safe, good pedigree. Welcome to the club, Graham.

At this stage of the season yes. Give the new manager a few months to prove he has what it takes. Let him bring in a couple in Jan and reassess in the summer. If it isn’t working like it wasn’t with Hughes then we can get rid.
Hughes should have gone after the Carlisle game but for some reason Sparks thought that giving him a summer to sign the crap we are left with and hoping that the football might magically get better has once again left us in a mess. The exact same issues we have seen since Parkinson left 8 years ago! 8 years!

The solution to high manager turnover is to sack a manager who gets you in the play offs for the first time in 5 years immediately... You can guide a horse to water but you can't force it to drink i guess

I agree. If we are not going to go for David Artwell who would take two years to sort it all out, why bother with other managers who all sound great at interviews but fail to deliver. The Fan base keep picking up the tab for these failed managers.

Not a chance any decent manager on planet earth would agree to such a ridiculously short contract. What would be the attraction of agreeing to one, from an employee perspective? Nil frankly.

Majority of the fan base wanted him gone in the summer. His football was crap and he ultimately failed whilst having a top 3 budget.
We let him stay knowing the football wouldn’t change and now have a squad of players that are largely crap and we now find ourselves 16th in the league.

How’s this recruitment of a “decent” manager going? 5 weeks in and Sparks is just about to hire someone who 100% wasn’t on our radar a week ago. Where is the communication from Sparks or Rupp in the last 5 weeks? One boring statement doesn’t cut it. We don’t have a vision or a plan.
We are just hoping it works out and if it doesn’t then it’s rinse and repeat.
I like Alexander and really hope he does well butI just can’t see it while Rupp and Sparks are running the show.

Interesting comments about a club that have virtually no history and even less identity.

I Hope the new manager is a strong character
He needs to tell Rupp and Sparks to run the club
But to leave the football side to him

That’s a given. Rupp and Sparks don’t get involved in the football side anyway?

Id say if anything, we need MORE involvement in the football side - just Rupp and Sparks should delegate as it isn’t their area of expertise

I'm not exactly doing back somersaults about Alexander, if indeed it is him, but every single football manager ever will get the sack at least once in his career. It's horses for courses, some managers (like players) succeed doing the same thing at one club that lead to failure at another.

Overall Alexander's track record is more positive than most other candidates and is more positive than negative, plus he seems to have a harder side to him that will help sort out some of the chaff. He has experience and longevity in the game, and that is what we need at this point.

I'd much rather him than Barton who as a person would just be trouble waiting to happen. Lets just wait and see how he does, but for christs sake give him breathing space to find his feet and change what he needs to.
