But our business model clearly puts people off. We're being left behind, and yet still some seem to cling to the notion of 'sustainability' being solely a force for good, rather than a fundamental blocker

No one has got out of the wrong side of any bed this morning, or any other day for that matter. Just detailing why I didn't buy a season ticket - quantifying the joke our club has unfortunately become. I certainly won't be back at VP until things change at the top but as I said this current situation still doesn't stop me hurting

Looks like Grimsby are hiring young in Nathan Rooney after his spell manager in Gibraltar. Another younger boss getting a gig in the EFL recently following Mike Williamson and Stephen Clemence.

The unexpected failure of MH has made both the club and prospective applicants ultra cautious on what happens next...

KM has never wanted it, it was always a short term role as far as he was concerned. It's bad enough fans not getting this but when Sparks doesn't either, it's further confirmation that he is not the right person to be making footballing decisions.

Well the thing is Dave, we don’t know. This lack of communication with the fans lends itself to conspiracy theories. Other clubs requiring managers seen to be in the driving seat, while we run along after. There is something going on.

The amount of managers we have had and sacked is well documented, i wouldn't go work for an organisation no matter how big if the job was high pressure with poor leadership and the potential to be sacked in 3 months.

However that is exactly what we need, a guy who backs himself to come in despite the above and kick us up the league.

    Big risk

Very weak playing squad on long contracts and no money to bring in anyone else.

I think I get your drift, job applications , I have only made 3 in 50 years, by nature do lead to applicant insecurity for sure. I also agree with your concept that it can lead to employee insecurity too.

I agree. There's something amiss in all of this. We should be a great draw for aspiring football managers - big crowds, decent ground, financially robust, decent training facilities - and yet that's not the case. It doesn't help that we've had a string of managers under the current regime and our owner doesn't appear to be fully committed to the club. Maybe it's those aspects which outweigh the positives? Who really knows. I said at the etart of the process that appointing Big Mac as a caretaker was a great move since it would give Rupp and Sparks time to work out what kind of manager was needed. It doesn't appear that that time has been well used and we've now gone backwards. If the WOAP article is to be believed, we've lost our first choice and other candidates have withdrawn. It's far from ideal and brings greater uncertainty into the outcome.

It's difficult to accept all of that without questioning whether Adams wasn't right when not long after he joined us, he alluded to there being fundamental problems at the club but never provided any details. He left us 3 or 4 months later without shedding any further light on his comments. I wish he'd shared his concerns more widely!

Personally, I'm not as concerned as others who are starting believe that relegation is a possibility this season. I can understand why they have concerns but I don't sit in that particular camp. As time goes by, I expect those concerns to be shared more widely. I really hope that Rupp starts to feel it as well and starts to consider offers to buy the club even if they don't meet his own current expectations. Better to make a small loss now than a potentially larger one if we really were to be in a relegation scrap. It's all very unsatisfactory.

The point is like or not and we don’t he won’t put any extra money in so the budget and staffing will be cut a self inflicted blow

    Thinking that is nonsense.

Sure, a year or two of missteps might be excusable. But 7 years? How long does the club get a pass for? 10 years? 20?

There comes a point when you have to realise this is systemic incompetence. Is it alright to sleepwalk into non-league as long those at the top have "good intentions"?

On your next Jet2 flight they could strap me into the pilots seat and the odds of you getting to sunny little Benidorm are very slim even if it's my best intentions to get you there.

Even Rahic had "good" intentions to take us to the PL, where we'd have "£1 tickets".

But good intentions only get you so far when the ship's been sailing in circles.

As Sparks pointed out, we're self-sustaining. The owner isn't reaching into his pockets; it's the fans footing the bill year after year, only to watch their investment squandered on absolute dross. When fans are the lifeblood of the club and are funding the vast majority of the budget, they've earned the right to voice their discontent and, if need be, hold back their time/cash.

It's not just a game; it's our community, our culture, our legacy. If those at the helm are too incompetent to navigate us away from rocky shores, then the crew certainly have the right to signal distress and call for a more capable captain.

My £6 a match isn’t an investment I pay it because I enjoy watching my team. Of course I want the team to be successful and I frustrates the hell out of me that we can’t get it right. But the fact is we are funded just like the majority of EFL clubs
