What’s this unique magic power that Evans possesses that makes people claim he would guarantee promotion.

Lots of claims by people that he would definitely get us promoted.
Admittedly he’s had successes(at Crawley and Rotherham he spent plenty)
But he’s had some dismal failures as well.

Can’t stand the man and his perennially arms out little cry baby assistant Raynor but according to some on here he guarantees promotion so I’ll ignore my hatred and welcome him with open arms (Raynoresque) and look forward to the open top bus when the inevitable promotion follows.
Can somebody just let Ryan know now so we don’t have to stay in the arse end of league football for much longer.

I know he’s not coming btw but my main point is I didn’t realise that appointing a lower league football manager could be so surefire.

This squad to me is capable of much more, I think MH was probably over complicating things, we will find out. Watching Kevin McDonald in the games he has played you could see him when he got the ball he would be pointing to where players should be and noticeably looking frustrated.

People will say what they want about players like Jamie Lawrence and whatnot, and that's fine. If they want to call me a hypocrite, fine.

But if Evans enters, I leave.

    Life will go on.

Back to the subject of Sparks, appoint a player who only joined the club a couple of months ago as interim manager is just utterly bizarre.

Yet another roll of the dice decision.

Let’s hope it’s just for one match, but still, surely Trueman would have been the logical option given he has experience and isn’t a first team player.

Only lasted 8 months at Leeds
Less than a year at Peterborough.

We don't know what's gone on behind closed doors. Trueman might have been offered it and turned it down.

Exactly. Yes he has had notable successes but all with clubs with low expectations, and I believe he thrives on the small club 'us against the world' mentality. Managing us would be a totally different animal.
I just dont get the view that appointing this guy guarantees promotion. If it were to happen (which obviously it won't), I'd say there would be just as much chance that he would prove to be a total disaster, and in our current position thats unthinkable.

No manager guarantees promotion. We've all had a pop at the CEO (Sparks) and his lack of football knowledge when making appointments but apart from it being a gamble we don't know if he took advice before making these appointments.

If he took advice, he didn't take it from someone working full time to identify the next Bradford City manager specifically, which he should have done.

What I want to see is full diligence on all the short list. I know there needs to be urgency but no more half baked cakes please. This where he needs help in my view. To weigh up the differing attributes of each candidate and then matching them to our priorities.
While I am on plans we need to be thinking about next year and the one after that for coaching and managing the team. What suits us now may not suit us in the future. We don’t want to be rushing around trying to find the right manager or coach. If you do that when the waters are calm you can be fairly relaxed when the next manager leaves.

The worst decision in years, was Rhodes bringing McCall back. We basically wasted 18 months.

Let's remember that Rhodes's record of hiring managers who delivered success was 1 out of 6.

The other 5 performed far worse than, arguably, Hughes ever did.

I'd rate McCall slightly better than Hughes. He took us to the play offs (admittedly with much of PPs team) in a division higher than Hughes and also reached the final.
