1955/56 season for me. Division 3 North.
August, Wrexham at home - won 4- 3 as I remember!
We were getting 10 - 15k gates even in those days. As a young lad I remember it was a tight squeeze getting out, my grandad used to protect me!

As Dave says, every player a hero!
To add to the list, Geoff Hudson, David Gray, George Williamson, Willie Robb, Kelly, Les Samuels and my absolute hero - Johnny Simm on the left wing!!

The reserves played in the Midland League and when the first team were away, the up to date score would be announced every fifteen minutes!

    Great days.

My family moved right next door (78 Lupton Street) to Valley Parade in autumn 1975, from then i started watching City. I was only 9. Initially i think i started going in when they opened the gates to let the poor long suffering fans out about 20 mins from the final whistle!. The first game I may have paid to attend was the 1st round fa cup game v Chesterfield when Don Hutchins got the winner about 5 minutes from time, the start of the famous cup run to the quarter finals . I also used to go to reserve games too(they were free) and sat in the stand which i thought was a bit of a treat!
As for away games i think my first one was the league game at Halifax in 1980/1 season, and my next one at Huddersfield poss the same season in the West Riding Cup.

First home game at the start of the 74/75 season shortly after the 74 World Cup. Scunthorpe at home and a 3-0 win. Gerry Ingram (2) and Bobby Ham the scorers that day.

    First home match.
Oxford fa cup 3rd round 1988.
    Won 4-1

First away match was Sheffield United or Man City 1988.
Can't remember which order but they were around the same time.

    Won 2-1 at Bramall Lane.
    Drew 2-2 at Maine Road.

    The nearly season.
I was hooked from there on in.

My next door neighbour Mark was a massive City fan.
He had his own business which sponsored the club.
With me not having my dad around as a kid, he knew I loved football as I was out in the street playing all the time, and said would I like to go watch Bradford City play??
I was straight in at the deep end.
He went to City with a load of die hards.
Saturdays consisted of meeting at the Cartwright Hotel at noon and watching everyone get tanked up.
We sat in what was then the Natpros stand, Morrisons stand now. As sometimes stood on the kop for the bigger matches.
I was going to away matches with them pretty much straight away.

first games both home and away were against Shrewsbury town funnily enough.

early 1987 0-0 at home, remember bugger all

probably around 1990 my first away game, was at Gay meadow, we won 3-1. Dad took me as we had signed a bunch of players the day which probably made us a lot less useless. Jimmy Quinn, David Campbell (both scored on debut that day i think) cant remember who the other two newbies were. The road to the ground was flooded i remember that so we had to take a big detour on the walk to the stadium. I remember the train we went on was the old style that had "rooms" on the carriages too.

my first goal is saw us score was in a 2-2 draw with chelsea apparently, cant remember sod all other than my old man reminding once a year, even now 30 odd years later, that my step dad took me and never in a month of sundays would she have let him take me to a game like that!!!

We went one nil down and grief from my uncle, we went on to score 5.

    A great day.

That was my first match as well. My now husband took me to see if I would like it. We were in the old Paddock smelling cigar smoke. Mud at both ends and limp grass in between.

That 2-2 with Chelsea, Ormondroyd had a blinder.
Scored twice and sealed a 800k transfer to Villa.

If I remember correctly we were 2 - 0 up very late into the game and they scored 2 very late goals , it seems to be a theme that runs through bradford City teams :(.

Ha Ha the paddock was a favourite of mine too as I got order, alfresco toilets spring to mind
Those were the days plenty of characters about
Imagine what those who complain about the lack of hot water would have made of it
Great memory I still have the programme too both my late father and grandfather wrote the scores in it for
me to keep amongst the thousands I have it's still my favourite

First home game I think was Rotherham, 1-1 draw, 8th April 1985. Was too young to remember it properly, but the one I really class as my first was Grimsby, we won 4-2, 7th Feb 1987.

First away game 18th August 1987 at Oldham, we won 2-0.

My Dad took me to the home games, and I went to Oldham with a friend from our street. Fast forward 40 years or whatever it is, my Dad doesn’t bother anymore, and I go with my wife and kids. They’re not as ”into” City as me but my eldest, nearly 17, is pretty City mad which I’m proud of!

My first City match was the home League Cup tie against Man Utd in November 1982. Evening game which we drew 0-0.
I was a student at Bradford Uni and probably went along because one of my student housemates was a United fan. We sat in the old wooden main stand - the only time I ever did that.
I don't remember much about the game, except that Ces Podd and Joe Cook both played in it.
It was only after I finished uni that I started going to City games more regularly, in the 84/85 promotion season.

No idea - it was that long ago - but it was in 1964 as my dad said he took me when I was eight. He used to lift me over the kop turnstiles. ha ha
