Oduor left wing back as the alternative to Ridehalgh perhaps?

 

I personally think we are weaker than last year. We have 1 half of the Tranmere defence that got relegated to the conference 3/4 of the defence are very slow, signed 1 rarely scoring striker, got nothing down either flank. Hughes and Gent still have a lot of work to do to get this squad worthy of a place in the top 7

 

Also I think odisina is gonna be used this season as cover left back

 

As long as Platt stays we’re Ok he and Stubbs were solid together it was Critchlow who weakened us

 

The squad that was five points off automatic promotion and has been mainly retained ? It only needs a 7.5% improvement

 

Funny how opinions differ. Way stronger!

 

I do worry a bit about pace at the back we could get caught out against nippy forwards. But I think Midfield is stronger with hopefully more goals and assists. And with Smith who has a decent pedigree and Walker we have more goals there. So overall we have improved

 

It was posted many times last season we had little pace and to be fair we coped pretty well, of course the one that stands out is at Crewe, our achilles were set pieces.

 

Wasn't Osadebe deployed at RWB during his time at Walsall? I think he may end up there again if the other RB/RWB options don't make the cut

I think we are a lot better off than last year. Height an prescence has been added to the defence. Some pacier wing backs. Our Midfield looks stronger and a lot more attacking an we have added another option to the foreward line. The only player yet to be replaced is Banks, but im sure a good loan or two could fix that.

 

Ian really shocked by how some people think we will be fine. The League is so much tougher and we are relying on players who bar Gillingham away didn’t put in one convincing 90mins performance. The mentality was so poor last minutes goals laboured play and no creativity. Have we really addressed it suppose we won’t know for sure until we kick off but on the face of it I see a long long hard season. Maybe over reaction but I am disappointed in the club I thought they would have gone hell for leather bringing quality in… This squad needed more than tweaks

 

In a nutshell ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

 

We have signed McDonald who is quality and Pattison who had 12 goals and assists last season one of the best records in the league so there is your creativity. My worry is that the manager utilises what he has to the best effect unlike last year

 

I think we are 2 or 3 players away from being a decent squad but with out them then we have no chance of promotion

 

I do get that concern, but out of interest, how many teams are there in this league that have pacey defenders that can also actually defend?

 

He scored 9 goals last season. Agreed that’s great huge help. No one else in that squad will get near that (bar Cook) and that’s the worry. McDonald’s is quality but he’s also aging and won’t play week in week out. There is going to be some really disappointed people in May am so surprised more people can’t see we lack so much quality at the top.

Youth loans ain’t going to cut it .. for every Banks we’ve got a Nevers, Costello. It’s a gamble.

I know people won’t hear it but am convinced it’s budget related the lack of activity or complete naivety at the challenge from others.

 

We're stronger in midfield the same up front but weaker down the flanks. We haven't adequately replaced the players that have left.

 

Stay away from the windows.

 

I was also in the bracket of thinking we was slightly weaker but then you look at the starting 11 today and think who else we have for 2nd half team likes of Walker, McDonald,Stubbs,Oliver etc.The squad does look very strong, other than at left back, plus a winger or two but it looks like we are going down the wing backs so maybe we don’t need wingers

 

Now you are talking daft. What about Pattison 16 in the last two seasons, Walker who missed a lot of the season or was unfit.

 

He’s been unfit a lot of his career Walker hence been with us Il lay you a bet he gets less than 5 goals and plays less than 25 games
