I don’t know Park but he turned Erexham down and that must have been a good deal financially but long distance travel. With 6/7 clubs interested distance might be a factor, just a thought

 

Just hope the Welsh connection plus a decent financial package helps swing it. Looks like they have put a lot of eggs in this basket

Kent to Swindon is hardly a short commute.
All this talk of distance preventing a signing is clutching a bit.
Where was Vadaine Oliver living when we signed him from Gillingham?

 

It may or may not prove to be a factor, it was with Richie Smallwood - but Sam Stubbs just joined from Exeter, wherever he's based, he was making a substantial trek to either us or them - Harry Lewis from Southampton - we've even loaned Banks from Palace, and Dion from Luton.

If anything, footballers seem to be more mobile now.

Most of those young guys probably with no families. Williams would be younger when at Sunderland but may have family ties now hence turning Swindon down. I really don’t know but a bit concerned

 

The longer such a strong rumour rumbles on for without a conclusion, the less likely it might become.

If he is the second signing that we expected to be concluded last week, it's definitely cause for concern that it's now Wednesday and still no deal.

But who knows.

I'd like him to sign, and if we targeted him then we're looking at the right level IMO, which is encouraging (and not in a Kieffer Moore kind of way lol)

So mi June and so far this massive club have signed 1 squad player, those talking last few days about Hughes pulling power.....

 

We can’t expect to compete with big clubs like Gillingham be reasonable.

 

This is going to switch the reaction burners into overdrive!

 

What a bummer this is ruined the season planning.

 

The article says "Williams was also one of the most fouled players in the division".

Unfortunately not by us, allowing Williams a free run into the penalty box with several 6'+ defenders stood there watching .

If all the speculation about Williams has no foundation, then surely the club would have come out by now to say there is nothing in it, or at least asked the T&A to say this on the club's behalf. I am, therefore, optimistic that it will happen. Maybe we are waiting for someone or other to return from holiday.
