Including youngsters and players who were out on loan there may be more than four if you include a couple of loans

I think we will go with a 27/28 player squad.

So another 6/7 signings in my opinion.

Yes id say around 8 total is fair as a bare minimum. Maybe more if Hendrie and 1 ir 2 others go.

    No it doesn’t.

It’s a paper for the thick. It throws mud and sometimes gets somethings right. Bit like Twitter I suppose.

Parker is a disgrace for copying and pasting The Sun. The man is an embarrassment.

The Sun journo (covers Welsh football) wouldnt lie about a L2 signing. Its not like he is chasing clicks posting that. Use ya brain and think about it.

Anyway, the local Swindon rag reporting it and a couple of Welsh football writers have confirmed it now.

    So you can calm down.

One of those ITK accounts photoshopped Johnny Williams head onto Liam Ridehalgh's body (used the photo from his contract renewal article) and Parker made a joke saying it's him because he's bald or some rubbish. Bloody Twitter.

Is Williams out of contract at Swindon? Why haven’t they renewed/why is he leaving?

Reading a couple of articles it sounds like he wants to move to a club that has the chance of promotion as he feels he is capable of playing at league one still.

Lowdown on reported Bantams target Jonny Williams
    [IMG]thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/23586421.analysis-reported-bantams-target-jonny-williams/

JONNY Williams is reportedly set to become City’s second recruit of the summer.

The 33-capped Wales international is being strongly linked with a move to West Yorkshire after leaving Swindon.

So, what can Valley Parade fans expect from a player who was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gareth Bale in the World Cup last winter?

Jonny Leighfield, from our sister paper the Swindon Advertiser, has offered his insight and analysis of the 29-year-old.

Williams has been plagued by injuries through his career - until he arrived at the County Ground two years ago.

Swindon nursed him carefully through his first campaign with 16 of his 42 league appearances coming from the bench. He only played the full 90 minutes six times.

But it was a well-worked policy that got the best out of the Welshman - his 2,400 total number of minutes on the pitch was the best of his career.

Williams then topped that last season with 35 League Two starts, to go with 10 goals, as he clocked up 2,789 minutes of action. In comparison, his previous highest before joining Swindon was around 1,500 at Charlton.

“It was pretty much down to the sport and exercise science team,” said Leighfield. “They understood the modern player.

“The guys at Swindon deserve a huge amount of credit for keeping him fit and I’m sure Jonny Williams would echo that.

“He’s played a lot less than he would have liked at other clubs. But when he came to Swindon, he played 40-plus games both seasons he was here.

“It was the most games he’s ever played for one single club, the most goals, the most assists, the most minutes.

“From a personal point of view, apart from not getting the promotion he would have liked, you could make an argument that his time at Swindon was one of the most successful stints of his career.”

Williams was also one of the most fouled players in the division.

As a “name”, he was an inevitable target for those trying to make a mark - although he also gained a reputation for going down easily. Leighfield believes that is a bit unfair.

“I think the Bradford fans will remember as much as any others that he spends a lot of time on the floor.

“There were a couple of cases when the crowd would be right on his back accusing him of diving around. Then you’d see him afterwards and he’d have a big gash down his calf or his thigh.

“That’s the nature of his game. When Wales did well in the Euros in 2016, their plan back then was to give it Williams, he gets fouled, Bale takes the free-kick and scores.

“We didn’t have too many decent free-kick takers to take advantage of that but it happened a few times.

“If Bradford have got someone who can stick it over a wall from 25 yards, then they might be in business.”

With 15 goals and 10 assists from his spell at Swindon, supporters will be hopeful that Williams could be the productive midfielder that City urgently need to back up Andy Cook. Leighfield reckons he’s at his most effective when played further forward.

“If you play him in the forward line, he’ll score goals,” he added. “That seemed to be the case at Swindon.

“But if you play him in midfield, he’ll be integral to the play and pass it through the thirds, but he probably won’t get as much credit.

“We had a conversation with him late in the season and he said he didn’t have that many assists to his name because often he’d play the pass before the pass.

“If you looked at pre-assist assists, if you like, then Williams would have plenty more contributions.

“It depends on the style and position but if you can get him playing off the left wing, he can have a decent effect.

“Swindon played 4-3-3 quite a lot and some of his best stuff was as the left winger. He wasn’t so much of a crosser but would drift in and float around.”

The Bantams found that out to their cost when Williams ghosted in unnoticed to score the late winner when the two sides met in April.

Leighfield said: “He didn’t do that as much as you would have thought. That was a great example of what he could have done, although you never know whether that was the tactics that were employed.

“He’s definitely capable of doing that, he’ll hang around the edge of the box and make that late run. He has got a decent poacher’s instinct to be in the right place.

“If you paired him with Cook, I’d imagine they could do quite well.

“Jonny Williams is genuinely one of the nicest men in football.

“If you take him to your heart and love him and make him feel like the best player in the world, I really think you’ll see the benefit of that.

“He could be a massive help next year.”
