Cooky and Derbyshire got sod all service first half, yes it was piss poor first half but the way Stevenage play was always going make that likely. I was actually quite optimistic at half time. Okay yes I was in a hospitality box and had a few but I felt we just need to press them a bit more, we did and it worked. Carl Piergianni holds Stevenage together, not just his goals but also the way he organises them, a little word in the ear now and again during stp s in play.
Apart from losing Wright, which we couldn't do anything about I think we have come out of the transfer window stronger.

Very quick thinking from Smallwood there.

Let's hope that we are quicker now that we've got two intelligent midfielders lying deep!

No it was more like a foot or so-never 1.5 meters as that would have been virtually behind the goal netting.

Bloody hell Jon, are you Mystic Meg? Only thing you got wrong was 2-0 at half-time. You couldn't give me some lottery numbers could you, mate?

Absolutely agree. Derbyshire's goal is what Derbyshire has done all the way through his career and that gives us something different - a player who's always up for taking a chance. Stubbs is absolute class like his Dad was, as long as he stays fit. And Clayton is a nasty little bastard who reads the game extremely well.

If we can keep him fit, Stubbs is a real class act. Rom's coolness, but with more experience and physicality. No slight to Platty because he's been a good performer for us this season, but I'd love to see Stubbs playing with Rom.And of course, all of them in a three might look pretty cheeky depending on who we play.

Broadly agree with your thoughts Inspector, except for the Cook comment. Throughout his career whenever he's had the right feed player alongside him, he scores loads. This season, with a dizzyingly different number of players sometimes alongside him or often being left as the lone striker at the top of the tree, he's still on 18 goals in all comps. Not shabby. I liked how he played with Derbyshire today - two old school strikers who understood what each other did and fed one another in really well in the few chances we had. Hope this endures, because I don't feel confident with Oliver when he starts. Little link-up play with players around him. Good as a battering-ram late on.

Yeah Ulysses, he's rubbish. Er...apart from the 18 goals, the many assists and the talisman role he often takes in matches when we need that extra bit of push in the final third. I'm with you mate. Posters on here - Fordy are you listening! - forget that at this level to even have a striker who'll probably end the season with 20 plus goals is gold dust.

Couldn't agree more. Hughes was right to bring in more leadership and experience with Clayton, Derbyshire and Stubbs. Nevers looks potentially exciting and Kelly still to be proven but great for him to get his toe in the water.

How deep do you think the nets were?

Did you watch the new “ all angles” video. One angle it’s clearly a minimum of a metre. I guessed 1.5 from the games camera angle before seeing any different views
