In terms of automatics, it's not Northampton we have to think about, it's Stockport, Carlisle & Salford. I can see us sneaking 6th or 7th, possibly above Northampton, and a top three of Stevenage, Salford & Carlisle. Swindon are the team I think will drop out of the top seven. Things change, but my current thoughts are: (Don't put any money on it, I'm hopeless at predictions)

    Stevenage
    Carlisle
    Salford
    Orient
    Stockport
    Bradford City
    Northampton

Well who'd have thought it Hughes did not bring Cook on as he thought Oliver was doing well, he doesn't know if Cook will be O/K for the next game with regards his broken nose.
He's clutching at straws with some of his comments in this post match interview.

I don't remember much wrong with the approach when we beat Salford - which was only two matches ago, but now Hughes has abandoned that for hoofball

We've hardly did that yesterday anyway, witness Gilly twice making a run into their half - but apparently if you clear your lines desperately, you're a hoofball team.

I imagine us 1-0 up later in the season, when a win gets us promotion - we hoof it for the last five minutes. So that means that's all we do now, eh?

But let's amuse you and agree that this is the new way forward. So you now, think it's the way for the rest of the season?

1 defeat in 5 is an improvement from 4 defeats on the trot.

    Damn spotted :joy:

I'm strangely enthused. I rarely watch us on ifollow as I got to all the home games and have lotf of other things to do - but I've not felt as engaged for seasons.

Clearly there's something wrong with me.

I’m not gonna lie, I don’t get the love in with Oliver.
Last night he barely won a thing, just fell over claiming a foul.

I don't know if it was his new haircut, but he reminded me of Angol. Trying little flicks and so on. Didn't work out either (cos Tom Bola on the overlap didn't read those backheels).

The return of Osadebe will gift us a player who can carry the ball from box to box no issue.

    .
That’s not going to help us win games. Our midfield doesn’t offer much at all. Problem

I'll start by saying that was a great run by Gilly. Still didn't manage to get the ball to any of our front 3 to enable them to be actively creative, but relieved the pressure on our defence superbly.

And I'm not talking about desperate last gasp clearances. What I am talking about is when our defenders play it out to one of our "best in the league" midfield trio, who have time to turn and either carry or play the ball forward or play it forward to possibly enable our front 3 to make a run or be creative. But instead they play it straight back to a defender without even looking over their shoulder to see if anything is on. 9 times out of 10 this ends up with the defence under pressure and having no option but to hoof it. The midfield have to take more responsibility for making the play

A little reminder for those with short memories.
We miss this type of pace and ball carrying skills from deep.
Chapman does it but a bit higher up.

Which is possible when there are three 'decent' midfielders as two tend to constantly get overrun.

I think we're judging this before we've seen it - after all that three have only had one match.

If we want one of those we should be signing Courtney Lawes
