The lad was hung out to dry. Inexplicable decision to throw a 20 year old in, who probably doesn't even know the names of all his team mates yet. The more I see of Hughes, the less I can fathom him out. Becoming more evident by the week why he's won nowt.

Need bombing on confident wing backs to play a diamond, which we don't have. It's too narrow, so if a team plays a back 5 or like today, a narrow back 4 and 2 deep CMs, they just close out the space and anything we create is luck based more than anything.

Now the loan quota is full and we still don't have another CM, instead signed more forwards so it makes sense to go back to 4231, in personnel terms.

The big frustration for me is that this would have been a great battling point in the circumstances had we won on Tuesday. Next Saturday is massive now

Not certain what your comments has to have with the points accumulation

    After 25 matches, in these seasons that apparently were far far better than this, we had the following;

2013 - Same number of points, but we were in the middle of a far worse run of form than this.
2015 - (FA Cup run) 4 points less
    2016 - 2 points less
    2017 - 2 points more

We made the play-off in all but the 2015 season and narrowly missed out on automatic in 2013 and 2016.

So I'm still perplexed why at 25 matches now, it's all seen as so terrible

I just love the rose tinted glasses some have about the past. Our league form in the history makers season got lots of criticism, with several fans arguing that the cup run was the only thing keeping Parky in a job. In 2015, it had only been a few weeks earlier that a lot of fans wanted Parky out.

Frankly, and it's understandably after the last few years, we have too many fans who lack perspective. Your post showed this.

Lets just conveniently forget we are where we are BECAUSE of Cooks goals.

Spot on!! I think it's the fact we can see where points were dropped needlessly that frustrates the most. Let's be honest the other way though, we've arguable been denied 6 points by refereeing decisions and I can't think of any that's gone the other way.

Oceans better than all but one of the past twenty odd seasons? Were you in a coma when we were in league 1?

    Well said Wilsden.

I think our fanbase is very bipolar.

We must be very passionate fans, on the plus side, but it does get annoying.

Literally every non-victory is a catastrophe.

This one is annoying due to the context (losing to Rochdale at home, Northampton lost today, a couple of teams overtook us), but it's not the end of the world.

It's not terrible but it ain't owt like what you paint it as. But then you're always looking through rose tinted spectacles. The football at times is dull and uninspiring and I can't say there have been many times this season when I've come away from a game feeling elated.

Hughes had every right to expect Walker to show some awareness and responsibility - JW. is not an inexperienced kid and he badly let his teammates down today

Well after two good games which earned him his chance Dave, Oliver has now gone back to being quite ineffective.
On this basis Cook should have his place back on Saturday, as long as he has a partner up front, like Oliver has had.

We were miles off automatically going up in 2013. Nine points off.

Roger. You come across an intelligent person. I'm not commenting on the football, but on the points tallies.

Firmly in the promotion race. 6 points behind the auto's with a game in hand.

Seriously, judging from the comments, you'd think we were in Harrogate's position.

Fans have to accept that L2 is a frustrating slog. Even in the great 81/82 season, we were terrible for lots of matches - Sheff U at home and Blackpool away spring to mind. League two is a terrible division - so it's not surprising that we will be mediocre for lots of matches.

It's obvious Hughes signed Oliver as first choice, but his hand was forced when Cook started scoring for fun. First opportunity he got to drop Cook, he put Oliver in. It seems you're either "in" or "out" with Hughes. Young is another case in point. Joint second highest scorer despite the fact he's not played for four months. Surely, he'd have been worth a place in the match day squad, to bring on when we were chasing the game? The lad showed he could hit the target. Hughes throws Costelloe straight in today. Could Young have fared any worse???!!
