Massive wake up call this First goal a gift and unfortunately that set the tone and we were well outclassed after that.
Bad day at the office-it happens. We have Walker to come back and potential fresh blood in Jan. Today was a shocker but no need to chuck the towell in!

 

Second best in every department. A bit of a lesson really, but we seem unwilling to learn them as our home form has been sh*te all season. Only real difference today is that a good side exposed where we’ve been poor in most of our home games. Only real surprise for me was that when we had the penalty we didn’t try and pass it back to the keeper.

 

Is Smallwood undroppable? Today he was garbage. Going for the Hollywood ball way to often, didn't run about or get stuck in, lost possession more times than he won it. I'd play East over him if I had a choice.

 

Matty Platt needs to do one.

What a shocking excuse for a defender

 

Sadly I think it’s more than @Bronco . Can’t single it to one point today, but having just restored some good faith via the Mansfield and Sutton results we’ve turned up and been absolutely walked all over.

As I’ve said so many times this season, I expected so much more from today from this management team and playing squad. I can accept been beaten, especially by a performance like Northampton have produced today. However this was extremely disappointing and again, I expect much better.

 

We are in a difficult place because our tactics work away from home but at all, we are absolutely shocking. Notice that most footballing team's play with runners up top whereas we don't seem to put the same effort in working hard up top and try to walk the ball in

Embarrassing comment.

 

Very odd game. Was pretty even until we gifted them the first goal and then we crumbled. From then on they looked far better than us and we didn’t get close to them.

As we’ve seen already this season, we struggle without Critchlow at the back, he’s essential for us. I’d really like to see East play instead of Gilliead, especially at home. Not quite sure why Gilliead is keeping his place week in week out (although based on today you could argue Smallwood should also be dropped).

 

You have to give credit to Northampton they were tearing us a new one in defence every time they went forward we couldn't handle them, so they knew they could cause us problems running at our defence so once in front they didn't need to park the bus.

 

Felt like there was a lack of effort at times after the mistake, our own worst enemies the players want to take a look at themselves summed up by Platt doing a Josh Wright and walking back at one stage.

 

Thought we'd got an upgrade on Paudie, but he's a downgrade on Canavan. Time to give Timi a run?

I was in no way trying to be flippant with my comment we certainly didn't help with our so called defending, what disappointed me was Songo was struggling with Northamptons pace (as was Platt) and we had Timi on the bench who has pace why not a straight swap at half time.
