Yes Jam, I agree he comes over very well and he has the qualifications. Additionally my Huddersfield mates tell me that from the way he played they are sure he will want to build a "footballing" team.
That said I would be much more confident had he smashed the league with the U18s. What has he shown to suggest he can do better with the seniors? By the way I am not knocking him here, I genuinely hope he turns out to be a breath of fresh air and a great coach.

 

And he knows where the goals are.

One is a legend at City, the other is a guy who used to live in Germany who has taken our club down the table in two years.

There's a big difference in terms of reputation and levels of respect earned.

 

It also depends on the quality of the U18's at the time, perhaps he got the best he could out of them and third from bottom was a fair reflection of the teams abilities.

As I said mate, I can see why it was edited. That is fair enough. But there have been umpteen other occasions where someone has used a similar line and never got edited. My point being is that either I was singled out and the post reported or the Mod was quick to spot and edit mine, when not so quick to do it previously.

I don’t find comments like that offensive or needing to be reported, hence why I haven’t. Should we report every “out of order” comment? If we did, you would never get anything else done.

Finally, I received a short-term thread ban recently for taking a thread off topic when challenging one of the Mods. How come Norman can get away with turning every thread into McCall bashing, especially when he admits he does it just to get a rise? Or is WUMming now an acceptable behaviour on here?

I'm as big a McCall fan as you're likely to find, and I think he did an excellent job for us and shouldn't have been sacked, but I think its time we just left it alone now. he isn't here, he isn't coming back, the players he had in his team largely aren't here anymore. some people thought he did well, others don't. some folk apparently don't have any respect for him and don't much like him, others, quite rightly hold him in very high esteem but it's all in the past.

if and when he gets another job lets discuss his fortunes there in the where are they now section, debating him and his tenure here now is destined to go absolutely nowhere.

anyway - back on topic - I think we've made some terrific signings this summer, all credit to the club for that, it remains to be seen whether the coach is up to the task, and if the new squad we've assembled will be struck down with the same affliction than caused our last lot to toss it off for half a season.
I am less worried than I was before after the quality of our additions, but I am still somewhat cautious as to how we might fair.

 

Difference being is that not every thread turns into an attack on the owners. In fact, in the last couple of weeks, some have even backed down a little with the abuse.

Whereas you admit you do it for a bite. It’s wrong, it’s boring and it’s simply not needed. He’s gone- you’re happy. Can’t we just leave it at that?

 

You do know that McCall is no longer at the club (so no need for further criticism), whereas Edin is still at the club and, in some eyes, still making mistakes, hence getting further criticism?

Or should we start every thread bashing Hanson again, even though he’s been gone a couple of years???

Like it or not the vast majority recognise what Stuart McCall did during both spells at Valley Parade, both as a player and a human being during those dark days.
And even accepting your arguement that in his two spells as manager he didn't get us promoted, Edin and Stefan can only dream of being held in such high esteem as Stuart McCall, who knows with a bit of help from the owners that second season we may have just seen a promotion under Stuart, but unfortunatly we all know how that turned out.

At that age it’s more about player development than results. I admit I was very disappointed when he got the job but if we were to appoint from within then the owners had seen him work along with the others and chose him. So he must have impressed

I think most fans admire Stuart for what he was as a player probably our best ever. There are a lot of those same people who thought he was given a good go over the five years as manager and wasn’t quit up to it
