Todays performances by notably Halliday, Odusina, Chapman and Pereira (to name but four) have shown that they should not be in the side next week.

Odusina, who was shocking, shouldn't be included at all. Sutton for Halliday, Angol in the No.10 role instead of Chapman, Songo'o for Odusina, and Banks for Pereira.
Surely Harratt should also now get some game time??

Hughes needs to take some sort of action and not let this continue, the squad is big enough and some players have, as MH has said, been patient for long enough.

I was going to post something similar. The ball just isn’t sticking up top with Cook. Today was very poor with players not being able to pass 4 yards to each other. When pressed we need an outlet and this is probably the 3rd game where Cook has failed to make to a difference. I’m beginning to think Hughes insists on playing out from the back because he knows a punt up top will only come straight back.

To think we have Odusina on a 3 year deal is worrying. His timing to head the ball is terrible, I don’t think he won a header in the first half. His first misplaced pass seem to affect the rest of team and it was downhill from there. There’s certainly something not right with Pereira because he’s not even getting involved. I’m beginning to see why he hasn’t made Luton’s 25 man squad. Maybe we should look at putting a 3 in midfield with Smallwood, Songo’O and Gilliead, with Chapman, Oliver and Wright up top. Either way this slow laborious style of play is working against us.

.No it wasn’t dreadful, we lost to a penalty. Apart from that I think they had one decent strike on target. Fact is we were poor, not dreadful. We couldn’t pull it back. Poor but dreadful seems an over the top comment.

If Cook isn’t scoring he’s a bad player- shocking in fact.

He’s goals have masked up his overall play. Hopefully, he keeps scoring but in truth he won’t and don’t be shocked to see more poor performances from him like today.

What does that even mean? September player of the month and you criticize him for scoring goals as a reason for him being a bad player? Clueless.

I’ve said it a couple of times already this season but it’s tough to recall a really good, dominant performance from us this season. Results have been pretty good but overall I don’t think we’ve played that well. We’ve had short spells in games where we’ve looked good but haven’t really had a dominant performance.

Now it seems teams are realising that maybe we aren’t quite as good as they thought, and rather than sitting back and showing us too much respect (like Crewe or Doncaster) they’ve started to come after us and the cracks are showing. We were lucky to get a point against Wimbledon and we were comfortably beaten by Stockport. Work definitely required on how we navigate a high press.

Give over. Platt has been very good this season, but poor yesterday. No need for your last comment, it’s out of order

Teams who have come to have a go, either with physicality or a high press, have caused the back four problems. Teams who have sat back cause other problems but do allow our back four a bit of a free passage. Hughes is gonna have to think about this passing out the back when a team presses, the players simply aren't good enough to pass through it. Certainly not with a midfield two that are easy to close down. And this ain't just off the back of the one defeat in 8, its been obvious to anyone who knows football and credit Challinor for doing his homework.

Yesterday's defeat came on the back of a descent run in the league it happens but what worries me is,and others have commented about the frustrating tactical persistence of playing it out from the back.
Even though our league position would suggest it works I'm not convinced it's the way to achieve success and allows the opportunity for the opposition to high press.
Also when defending a corner why don't we leave someone up front?
Strange tactics and frustrating as hell.

Odusina doesn't compliment Platt like Critchlow does. Platt has played well but this insistence on playing out from our own goalline puts a lot of pressure on what is a league 2 centre back.

I really hope Hughes isn’t that stubborn to continue down this route :( we have been susses out for weeks now and the results are papering over the cracks ........... Cook should be on the bench now apart from the penalty last week he’s done very little it’s basically like having 10 men well 9 if you include DP :( we simply ain’t good enough to do what Hughes is doing .................I honestly on a lot of occasions find it dull we can have all the possession in the world but if the majority is being played at the back then it’s a waste of time

We were in block H of the Kop. At one point those in North West corner were chanting something different from the ones in K block.
The atmosphere was better when they were all together with the drum in K block.

Some of the opposition managers have already sussed us. Play an open game allowing us plenty of space and time with the ball and it will work to our strengths. Alternatively, defend in depth and don't allow us the space and time to play or close us down and harry us and we struggle. That was evident even at the start of the season against the likes of Donny and Barrow and we still don't appear to have learned from those games. And yesterday was more of the same. Our approach is so predictable.

We flatter to deceive at times.

I don’t know what the new directive is about letting more go, but the grappling between centre half and attacker is ridiculous. Anything seems to go and I’ve seen less shirt grabbing in a rugby match. The FA need to stamp this out because it’s spoiling the game as a spectacle.
