I note that Tranmere beat Salford yesterday.

I think we played Tranmere at the right time, and that win will look better in a few months. It has a far tougher game than yesterday.

We had six shots on target and the three that were saved were very good saves. They had three.

I don't believe we rode our luck. I believe that Evans new that Stevenage were vulnerable to us in defence and so, no doubt having watched us struggle against Barrow, decided attack was the best form of defence.

i.e. let's say they equalise or get it 2-1 (as they should have done) we simply would create more chances.

True. I do like him in that barrier role he plays in the last portion of the game. It suits his mobility better, but as a sitting back defender yes agreed. I can see him spraying the ball around though?

The comments that we couldn't be pleased about struggling to beat a poor Tranmere team, were, as usual way too pessimistic.

Agree he was ridiculous, he wanted the hoof advantage from a certain angle, which proves Evans sets them up one dimensionally and they don’t have a plan B, and can’t manage anything different if plan A doesn’t work.

Songo'o is another one, who was underrated last season. He seemed to get harshly judged because he was perceived as Adam's pet - but actually had no more than a couple of bad games.

He bailed out the over-rated Paudie O'Conner several times (by the way, if you want some comedy gold moments go look at his defending for Bristol Rovers three goals yesterday - thank goodness he decided to leave us!!)

Like Smallwood, Gilliead and Chapman, I relax when he gets the ball or has to make a decision, because 9/10 it's always the correct one.

As some of saw from the Pereira 'welcome back' video, Yann is clearly an important team member in the true sense of the word and it was a great decision of Hughes not to move him on. Some managers would have done so because they 'fear' a personality who isn't playing all the time.

He did it several times in the first half too. I wouldn't be surprise if Evans is correct that MH had a word about it to the ref at half time.
What he did was start off like a legal throw with the ball in both hands, but part way through he twisted his body and left shoulder forward so that his left hand was ahead of the ball and the right arm was doing all the work.
In the first half it wasn't quite as obvious, but the one he got pinged for was blatant.

In fairness to Evan, budget wise, he'll have no choice. I think it's impressive how he's managed to turn a team that could arguably be where Hartlepool are into having a chance of a Top 10 place.

And he did play footie when he was at Rotherham and Peterborough, i.e. given the budget he will 'entertain'.

I'm in a minority as I'm quite an admirer of him. If you notice more or less every club he goes to tend to reach a highest place ever under his - only Mansfield been a noticeable failure.

I'd have had him here, if we couldn't have got Hughes.

The streetwise Wright is so much more effective at this level than arguably the more talented Banks.

When Hughes brought him in, like a lot on here, I wondered when he'd get minutes - never mind a game.

We can clearly see why Hughes signed him, his game management, i.e. frequently helping out, Foulds, his more inexperienced full back plus his brilliant decision making is an asset in itself.

And then there's the sheer pace he has and his enthusiasm for always taking on his full back.

My only worry, is I don't understand why he's still at this level!! Maybe it's one of those situation, which never normally occurs for us (certainly not in the last five seasons!!) and that we've got a player who is just entering the peak of their career.

Excellent MoM decision. I thought he made all the difference.

Could it be that we have more money due to increased sponsorship partly due to the presence of MH? Looking at the size and quality of the squad, our budget must be a bit higher(Wot! no Lavery Robinson etc).

He ALWAYS starts off well no matter the club, teams then suss how he plays and the following season they are usually relegation fodder. It happens everywhere he goes, if you don’t see that over the 10 clubs he’s managed , plus the numerous disciplinary charges him and his buddy have faced and been found guilty on each and every occasion then you haven’t been watching carefully. I wouldn’t have him near the club, he’s a proven liar and and undisciplined to the extent he’s a liability. So not a chance.

Platt had the best game of any player on the field.over the 94 minute but not taking anything away from Wright by the way.

I kind of agree with what you're saying but how would you like us to stop teams like Tranmere and Stevenage who are hoofing it from deep creating chances? Should we play with 4 or 5 up front to man mark each of the back line and stop them kicking it?

Teams who kick it long and are trying to get the second ball and knock ons will always create chances but what we have to reduce are clear cut chances or one on one's with the keeper and by and large we've been doing that whilst also creating chances and scoring goals.
