Can’t stand the stuff

 

Enjoyed today as did the players I suspect, When we moved the ball quickly we looked a real threat, Only concern was that although he looks a class above player Critchlow does slow things down with some aimless passing instead of feeding the wing or midfield, Looks like he has a mistake in him playing two many passes but looks quality defending, Hopefully as we gel he will speed up his use of the ball which helps the team dominate more

 

Good performance today. We didn’t look out of control at any point in the match

Lewis has been solid so far. His distribution is superb for this level

Halliday on a much improved performance from previous games. Still feel he is getting into his stride but he looks like a good acquisition

Centre back pairing looks solid. I’ve noticed that Platt is very streetwise so to speak an is more level headed than Paudie. Crichlow is class.

I gave a lot of shit to Gillead last year, most of it was deserved, but he imo he’s the best partner for Smallwood. Runs non stop an covers all the dirty work

Smallwood. Suberb signing for this level. Makes the players around him look better i.e. Gillead which is the trademarks of a solid player. e.g. being Liverpools defence after Van Dijk arrived

Banks has something about him. Just needs to settle in more but he’s growing confidence. Palace are keeping tabs on him so they must clearly rate him

Chapman did good. Just needs a few more games to get up to speed.

Angol grew into the game, Cook was solid. Im really glad that we have Young as our player. He has bags of potential

Harriat back for next game. Saw Walker at the game on crutches. Hope he aint out for too long.

Good game, builds confidence. Onto the next

 

There was a lot of passing the ball around at the back late in the second half, similar to the 1st half at Barrow. I could half forgive them given the heat, but I felt a bit more running at Newport could have brought another goal. You never know when that might come in handy.

 

I was very comfortable with how we saw out the game after the 2nd goal.

Didn't need to run around chasing the game. Comfortable in possession mostly and give them chance to preserve some energy ahead of Tuesdays long trip and game at Colchester

 

My thoughts too. I think we didn't need to or want to play at a higher tempo in the heat. Especially with a long trip on Tuesday night.
It was job done.

 

Spot on Idle. Busting a gut for three nil is a bit pointless when we have a game in 3 days. Game management was excellent this time without busting the fitness capabilities.

 

I think Mark Hughes was hoping for more.
“Second half we could have created more chances given we had one more player to the good. That’s something we can work on."

 

Great win, shows what an early goal can do. Thought Newport looked tidy on the ball. Came out on top beginning of the second half, but the extra man showed. Taking my rose tinted "we've won" glasses off, I still don't think Gilliead does enough. Also think Angol flatters to deceive - what does he actually do? Could say the same about Oliver also. Banks looks a prospect and will grow in confidence each game. Chapman starting to show what he's about too. Lets continue this form onto Tuesday!

ps haha Man Utd. Now that's a team with problems.

 

Have to agree about passing about at the back. A couple of times we nearly coughed up possession by over playing. They had 10 men and we didn’t really get behind them. I could see Vidane getting frustrated making runs along the line only for the ball to go back and forth between defenders.

It seems strange to me that we’ve brought a player in who won the most aerial battles in the leagues, yet we never seem to cross the ball for him to attack.

3 points in the bag so I’m happy with that, but we still seem to playing with our foot on the brake.

 

Good win despite not having to get out of third gear. Early goal really important as it didn't allow Newport to sit in and allowed us to control the game with the red making that a very comfortable exercise.

Really is refreshing to hear Hughes not being content with the performance and disappointed that we didn't take them to the cleaners in the second half. It's good to have a manager who watched the same game as you.

I would have loved to listen to him but bl00dy ifollow cut off before the interview.

One saving grace was that when I went back to radio Leeds to see if there was any hope of getting it on there I heard that Southampton had come back from 2 down. Which was nice.

 

Yes, we didn’t create a lot in the second half but we didn’t and shouldn’t have to go 100mph when the game was well won.

 

And then watch Man Utd lose 4-0 and Neville making comments like this.

Gary Neville: "It’s a real achievement to spend a billion pounds and be this bad." Oh @SimonW hope the UTD fans do make a stance against the owners of UTD. Ruining the club. Bottom of the league! Bet that hurts!

 

One thing I miss about game day…. The Dolly!

 

The game was very tight first half I thought they looked a decent tight team the first goal was the key if it had been level at half time it might have been a repeat of the Doncaster match. But they still had to come out and we should have won by more. It was great watching Chapman run at them all in all an enjoyable match

 

I'm very drunk.. So I'm going to summise the game in two words (with the weather inclusive of my thinking)..
