Been a fan of the Levellers ever since they started; the latest album (Peace) is well worth a listen. Stumbled across this the other day: almost half of the Peace songs, and a few others, along with some chat. For fans, there are a couple of very nice Mark Chadwick solo acoustic "Lockdown" sessions on Youtube as well.

It gives one pause when one's contemporaries start dropping off their perches...

Always liked the earliest DM stuff the best, so here's the end of one stage of their evolution:

It wasn't reported over here, and I suppose I didn't check the right sections of the BBC at the time, but it was a surprise to learn the other day that we'd lost Stefan Cush a year ago February. Many happy hours have been spent listening to TMTCH's music.

A B-side from a mostly forgotten early 90's indie band... Seemed appropiate today:

In cosy shires and towns without glitter
    They complain of standards
They complain of losing battles they won’t fight
You won’t lose much sleep tonight

Have fallen down a bottomless Ska rabbit hole; serious lyrics for tough times, but the music still puts one into a good mood. The first one is especially relevant now as a very dear friend of mine has had a rough couple of months, and the next few won't be any easier. Hopefully she'll pass the test just as I did in somewhat similar circumstances many moons ago, and one day we'll be able to look back even on this and laugh. And the second just deserves to be played. On repeat.

Never heard of them before, but that made me look up more of their stuff. They've just gone on my list of CDs to look out for next time I'm over there.

Just thought of another good cover to add to the ones listed previously: The Ataris, and their take on Boys of Summer.

Possibly the worst live performance I’ve ever seen, the comments are gold though.

I must have watched this about 50 time since you brought it to our attention. Stunning version. When googling for it (again!) the other day, I came across this version of cars. A great re-working with Nine Inch nails. I was always a massive Numan fan but proper drums and guitars take it to another level, in my opinion of course.

In October I will be listening to Bob Dylan live in Nottingham

44 years after we last saw him at Blackbushe Aerodrome in 1978.

Yes my wife got tickets, she did owe me them as I paid in 1978, just after I met her as it happens.

Agreed, that is a very nice version.

If you've been searching for Reznor-Numan collaborations, you've probably already come across Reznor-Murphy (Peter) collaborations. There's a good version of Atmosphere -- as good as you'll get, I think, without being JD -- and some informal live-in-a-small-room stuff with a variety of songs: some NIN, some Murphy, even Warm Leatherette!

This is a nice version of one of Murphy's best; it's good to play the original right after and note how his voice has changed and stayed the same. I think that overall he has aged very well.

I posted about 70s/80s Hamilton bands on the previous page, Teenage Head being one of the three greats. The news came out today that their guitarist, Gordie Lewis, was found dead in his flat yesterday. His son has been arrested and charged with his murder.

This is off their first LP:

And this is a very unusual early gig in the 'peg: it was being recorded, and the audience were under instructions to stay seated. It seems to have rubbed off on the band as well, as they aren't as lively as usual, nor as loud. But it's good for historical value. Normally, you'd get a mass of pogoing at the front, and a wall of sound coming off the stage -- even in WInnipeg.

    RIP to a Hamilton legend.

The Hu. Mongolian folk metal, I kid you not!
Interesting to say the least. Quite like it although I may be in a "niche" with that
