I think this post has confirmed many of my thoughts

 

Songo'o just doesn't fit with the type of player MH clearly likes. Comfortable on the ball.

Last season he was very good at blocking and heading but when he had the ball at his feet or was doing a clearance deary me-no one knew where the ball was going. Add in a couple of air shots with his "wrong" foot and he ends up being a squad player at best next season.

 

Ha ha no. Plus they are not a bigger club.

 

What? 3 some thoughts?

You really have to search very very hard to see a negative in this signing. Really hard.

 

Not forgetting the players age... this is a hungry professional probably around the peak of his game, not a jaded senior pro looking for a final oay day.

It’s a decent signing but nothing to get that excited over.

 

Realistically as a Div 2 side what would you class as a great signing?

 

If he was a midget you would be gushing everywhere. Admit it you suffer from heightism.

We are still miles off.

That’s 1 down for a 1st team signing that I expect us to make over the coming weeks. We need more and better.

I am excited. The one position you need to get right on the field is central midfield and preferably a captain/leader. Here we have an experienced player at a high level that we have had to compete with other clubs. These type of players are like gold dust. They are the engine of the team. Of course I am excited about the young talent we have brought it, but for me this is our key signature player.

He will be able to help the young players both in training and on the pitch.

 

You’re right in that he’s a definite starter and that the we know little about the other signings, but we’ve replaced serial losers (who finished the season well) with serial winners. I wouldn’t say we were miles off, but I’d expect us to be there or thereabouts with this squad.

If you’re not happy with the window so far, I’d suggest you revisit your expectations of a club with comparatively low season ticket prices, who’ve been stuck in the basement league for the last 3 or so seasons.
