Elliot Watt has consistently been linked to moves to a higher division by his agent.

Don't get me wrong, I see the talent, and the amount of experience he has at his age is impressive, BUT, Darragh is 100 % right - he needs a promotion under his belt, and he needs to boss an entire season before anyone moves in to snap him up for anything other than a developmental deal.

Watt's agent never seems to stop talking about all these people interested in him, but nothing concrete has come from it. Good luck to him touting Watt, the lad deserves the best deal he can get, but I'm not sure he'll be getting the move he wants just yet.

Watt will improve with better players around him so he won’t necessarily be a bench warmer in a league above, if he gets there early enough for preseason. For the vast majority of last season he had very few players to pick out with Vernams injuries and Walkers late arrival/injury. In league one he’ll do fine but would struggle at the moment above that in my opinion.

Sparks has literally gone on record and said they are competing with clubs from leagues above.

But surely he’s only relating what Watts representative has told the club. Watt won’t be discussing contracts with MH , that’s for sure. If it happens , it happens so to speak.

Watts agents will have offers from other clubs and Sparks will be privvy to the deals they are offering to see if we can match them.

Agents are sleazy but they have to be careful about lying...CEOs talk.

Why not if he is undecided a bit of one to one can help.

I wouldn't worry about it, he bypasses people with his attempted killer passes all the time!

I just hope we aren't going to be silly about spending a large amount of the budget on going all out to keep him, POC and Vernam. I don't think any of them are worth us breaking the bank, and if they are being offered more than 3.5k a week elsewhere, let them go and we move on. If we are going to be spending more than that a week on a player, we need better value for money imo.

Oh Park , once again that’s not discussing contracts, in that case he would be “ selling” the club, his philosophy, his plans for Watty/ team…….That’s not discussing money in all honesty.

Out of those 3 Id probably look to keep Vernam. I like he is direct and has a goal in him. A problem causer.

Hughes needs a Watt type in his team but neat footballers who can pick a 10 yard pass are 10 a penny - sounds like we already replaced him with East. Paudie is easily replaceable.

Of course financials are sorted out by the club and agents but if offers are similar and it comes down to his future then a one to ones can be a good thing

Sparks can relay that. Watt knows the deal with MH and what we are trying to achieve, plans etc. A new incoming player might need that reassurance but Watt will already know it. That convo has been had....

I hope he stays but If he goes it gives someone else an opportunity.

Imo Watt is a neat and tidy player and perhaps the attraction of L2 is guaranteed football versus being a squad player higher up.

If the moneys right another year could suit both parties and really put him in the shop window this time next year.

If we were to lose Watt and replaced him with an experienced head such as Smallwood (if there are any truth in the rumours) don't think many of us would be too disappointed

If im brutually honest, given our activity so far I wouldnt be against signing Charlie Adam!!

I do think we need some experience and he brings everything! PL, top clubs, international.

I can’t see Smallwood coming here but happy to eat my words. I’d be very surprised if someone in League 1 doesn’t take him.

I agree we need to bring in some experience for sure, someone to fill the Gary Jones mantle, yet having seen clips of Adam I think he's spent. Hope we get someone in with a year or too left in them

Thats no difference to decent players dropping down to the National League……though ? For money!

If the price is right there would be nothing to stop him coming surely?

Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since the last match of the season. How long do we wait on the out of contract guys to make up their minds. I suppose if they have options they can afford to take their time, but can we.
