Funny isn't it @Bronco, Derek Adams used to say things very similar to this, but after a while people decided he was talking absolute nonsense

Adams always defended the performances and said we should have scored more and picked up more wins, and the stats definitely supported that early on...

I guess the lesson is, players' level of performance will drop if they're not picking up the wins.

Hughes isn't saying anything out of the ordinary, he's saying the same things Adams used to say.

 

Yes unfortunately after 30, or so games even if what he was saying was true he's the man who had to change things, it was wearing a bit thin towards the latter end, todays performance without a positive end result was far more pleasing to the eye.

Right as it looks like we aren't going to get into the play off's I will pay my dues with regards the two £10 bets I had with @Tight1-0Victory I've sent him proof of payment to both The Darby Rimmer Foundation and the Bradford Burns Unit.

Result obviously a kick in the balls because Swindon deserved nothing from the game, but still positives to take.

Was impressed with the pressing, intensity and intension to play out from the back.

Just a shame the shocking recruitment has left us with a plethora of players who can't finish and a defence who can't stop gifting goals. If we had better quality players in both boxes then I'd be confident of a strong end to the season. As it is I'm just praying for a couple of wins soon so we can be safe.

But good signs for next season.

 

Difference for me is we had alot of clear cut chances today that we should have scored and the football was alot more enjoyable to watch. Under Adams the chances were half chances and poor football. With a better strike force we'd have rolled them over today. What ever Hughes has them doing its better and I'd be optimistic for us going forward.

 

Can’t see this proof of payment of losing bet concept catching on.

Didn't go today and just catching up so was MH talking out of his ar$e after the match saying we were unlucky today like DA did every time we lost?

 

No. We played pretty well and were unlucky to lose.

 

Why did Bass feel the need to sprint 20 yards to foul their player. I hope he got pelters in the changing room after that. fecking stupid decision

 

Keeper did a world class save before the pen and then acts like an idiot.

Over all excellent performance and the display from the lads was miles better than anything under useless Adams. We lack fire power but I believe Hughes will improve us on that front.

 

The ironic thing is it came straight from a brilliant save which I thought was match saving

 

Ironically after pulling a world off to keep Davison header out he had a rush of blood that point would have kept that 10 point cushion between us and Oldham.

 

Very good overall performance can’t really knock it other than weak defensive errors for the goals. But really enjoyable game, hopefully like many more to come under Sparky. Now the kick in the balls has settled down a bit I’m confident if we keep playing like that we’ll end mid table in the end, few more tricky fixtures coming up first though I’d take a draw just to stop the losses.

 

Best I've seen us play all season, Lavery and Evans were particularly impressive to a point. Light years ahead of anything under Adams post August, it makes a difference when players are encouraged and supported by their manager rather than harangued or ignored.

Some recurring issues that may not be fixable, running out of steam after an hour or so, Watt, Foulds and O'Connor were liabilities and Andy Cook's physical condition does not befit a professional footballer.

 

I do agree, but there were definitely games under Adams where we did the same thing - created chances, played good football, but we didn't sustain it.

 

Difference today than any performance I’ve seen this season was the midfield controlled the game and looked way more comfortable and confident.

Watt looked like the player we first signed, Cooke was industrious and Evans was a MotM contender (who was actually awarded it?).

Plenty of positives. We looked much more solid and organised. Undeserved result but far more
positives than that.
