sounds brilliant, love going with my two, though it’s mainly the lad that comes with me nowadays. Hopefully we’ll do a bit more again this season, though fly fishing is tricky to teach kids, he’ll get there. We have this tenkara pole to try out that someone found and gave to me, with the kids in mind. It’s pole fishing, but with flies, it’ll work well on the wee burns for trout and be a bit easier. Japanese method, I believe.

Bloody hell, sounds very difficult, fingers crossed things go smoothly and as quickly as possible. Similar happened to a friend I used to work with, they were in Barlby near Selby. It got sorted in the end.

Going to start him off on small roach and perch, waiting for warmer weather in the hope he catches first outing otherwise I can see him losing interest should be good fun

 

This happened to us 5 years ago. Upside we were able to move into the empty house next door as the owner had moved to a retirement home and had avoided the deluge that we suffered. We were out for 6 months and the insurance claim topped £130K. Insurance company were relatively good, although we had to sometimes chase them for interim payments to cover the cost of replacing lost items of furniture.

The downside was that our original insurers, Axxa, wouldn't insure us again.
Our broker eventually found a new insurer for us, but our annual premium is now around £1200 a year, when it previously used to be around the £500 mark.
