Yes you are correct. The point I was making was that spending money on a big fee for a player doesn't bring guarantees. The same happened with Tony Adcock. We took a chance on a certain Bobby Campbell, who nobody else would touch and that didn't turn out too badly. A fee doesn't guarantee anything, for some players a club is a good fit.

Adcock had a good scoring record before he joined us and he also scored a hatrick in Man City's 10.1 win over the dog botherers.

For which he should have had a statue erected in honour of that event. And another for whoever scored the tenth. I recall we lost 3.0 at Barnsley that day and my mate was so desperate for a pee on the way that he did it out of the car window on the M1. We were young and mad, now we are old and not so mad.

If this transfer window doesn't scream intent then I don't know what does!

Thanks for the investment Rupp, our custodian

Thank god someone who wanted to spend money in January didn't buy us either. We could've gone bust and ended up like Bury! Now we get to rot in League Two and sign cast offs while we delude ourselves into thinking there's a "playoff push"

Not necessarily. I believe we can have 8 loans, although only 5 in matchday squad.

Plus, who knows, we might still have bids for permanent signings being considered?

So the season is poised on a knife edge due to the lost boxing day income. The Crankshaw fee and saving on his wages now is being used to offset it ?
Pressure on now to get City into the promotion hunt - or there will be significant losses from ST sale reductions for next season and an Impact on the squad budget - we could find City in a downward spiral unless Rupp makes up the losses.

    Poor Rupp

Next people will be saying you shouldn't buy a football club if you're not going to invest in it :worried:

The club said at the time that the postponement of the Boxing Day game wouldn’t impact on the January transfer window. Either we planned for it to be done on the cheap, and the Crankshaw money has allowed us to bring in five loans, or someone was being misleading over the impact of the postponement.

How much does it cost to do that owning a football club is money down the drain

Fantastic isn’t it mid table league 2 what an achievement, who knows as well with any luck me could have amazing fixtures such as Halifax and Stockport to look forward to next season. What a dream that would be.

Most of the time but not in all cases. Why would Rupp a business man who had no interest in football part with his money to buy City?

To be fair playing those fixtures would be better than most we have had this season.
