January transfer window

Nope but we still need a club to be interested and then the player to agree terms. Not impossible but not easy either.

 

Easier than you think when players only have 6 months left on their contract. ROD & Evans aren't going to get any game time and will struggle to get a deal elsewhere, in the summer, if they haven't played for 6 months. If they can get 18 months somewhere they'd be pretty daft not to go now.

If we can move BRE & M-H on, we can move anyone on!

 

Looking forward to statement around the Crankshaw money having to cover the drop off in match day revenue as I believe the club are shortsighted/arrogant enough to do so

 

Without catching up on the comments to know the exact context of your follow up, my point was you can't judge a transfer window after 3 days (indeed, within a week or so we'd signed a player who looks to now be our best player) - now judging the transfer window towards the end isn't some sort of gotcha, it is what I was saying to do anyway

Clearly Adams has decided to bin this season off and use his budget for next season

That doesn't tally up with Sparks stated aim of promotion so what happens there Ryan? Get your big boy pants on!

The folly of Adams binning off this season is that no one will turn up next season to watch the same $hite being doled up again like bowls of cold gruel.

 

The truth is it hasn’t been a terrible transfer window, the terrible window was in the summer. Seasons aren’t defined on January windows little big business at any level is done now. January is more like a car boot sale people loaning or selling their tat that can’t get a game and we are just taking part. It’s been the same last 4 seasons hoping January will revive a poor summer, it’s not worked once because unless you get a lot of luck it won’t.

We are just such a portly run club, this is why the same mistakes happen again and again. Our only consolation is there are worse run clubs which keeps us above the dreaded non league threat.

 

I'm just waiting for Sparks to pop up with some excuse about Covid delaying the production of the "third shirt", and because the sales of those were going to fund our transfers this window, this is why we've only been able to bring in loans.

I disagree. The appetite for football is definitely still there, but people want to be entertained, they want something to get excited about, a feeling of anticipation that builds up over the week as they look forward to Saturday and watching a team of players that give their all and are never beaten until the final whistle blows. The dross we've been served up over the past few years is what's putting people off and making them feel like they can't be bothered, not football per se.

 

At what stage of the season do we promote the bringing of "Rupp Out" banners to games? I'm suprised there haven't been any as yet.

I agree. When iFollow first started showing the games live, I went out and bought a massive tv. It was amazing! For years I'd been stuck to the PC listening to games on a Saturday, occasionally finding some dodgy stream when we played in Cup games, and then all of a sudden I could watch the games live on my own tv! Then they even linked the audio and visual together and it was perfect. Happy as Larry! This season, I've mostly had the City game on my laptop, and a Prem game on the big tv. More often than not, I find myself watching the Prem game, and occasionally glancing at the laptop. Sad times.

 

I can't believe it either. I think if we don't address January properly and have a few more unacceptable performances, things will quickly escalate. The posts of people not renewing or having no affinity with the players, can't go on or unnoticed for much longer.

 

If we can't get a striker in at all I think we should de-register Robinson and re-sign Guthrie to replace him... not because it would help us in anyway, just cos it would be funny for it to happen to Robinson twice!

 

When do we start winning games?

Go back five games and many on here were saying "oh, we're only half way through", "plenty of time, loads of games left", "just need to go on a run of wins"

We're treading water and aren't scoring goals! So poor. With better planning and some investments we'd be top 3, easy.

 

I never said there’s no appetite there, as I say only if we have some success will this club survive. Rhodes and Lawn spotted it years ago, this club rots if it stagnates Bradford City fans are living further and further away from the ground and will find other things to do unless there is success. We also have a lot of older fans, once they’re gone if the club doesn’t manage to entice the new generation in then it’s screwed. And it needs to target its local audience which isn’t white British.

 

We needed loans at the start of the season not an exercise to fool fans to look like we are doing business.

 

Yep recruitment was generally poor in the summer - cannot argue much with that - Ridhalgh being poty says it all. He may be the best of a bad bunch but I am not convinced about him.

 

Walker would have seemed to be an obvious one to take on a perm.

 

Why would be join us?
