Exactly. Some are not reading what the point was that trying to be made, that being that Bradford are actually a bigger pull than Plymouth. Yet that plainly isn't true. In terms of pulling power I'd say we are no different to the majority of clubs in league 2 and that it pretty much boils down to money.

I agree that's down to bad planning and poor management of the squad at your disposal.

 

At this level 80% of a players decision making will be about the financials, and then the next factor will be location. The idea that players will be unduly driven by the idea of playing for a 'big club' is nonsense.

The difference between earning £2K per week as opposed to £1.5K will be more profound for most players than choosing between £30k and £40K in the championship, for example.

 

I get all that. The point I was replying to was specifically about location because I'm sick and tired of 'but Bradford is a sh!thole, who'd want to come here' being used as an excuse when the fact is that there are plenty of attractive places to live in the surrounding area, and our location is not the barrier to attracting players that some seem to think it is.

The fallacy that we're charging super cheap prices for season tickets is worn out.

It's a bit cheap. But then it should be. £200 to watch games against Sutton and Barrow is plenty. Acting like we should be charging £350 because "wE wIlL mAkE lOaDs Of MoNeY" is boring, false, and wrong.

 

That's a fair point on its own merit.

 

Bradford met also has a population around 600,000, not far off the whole of Devon. Saying that were surronded by other clubs doesnt mattter and isnt really true. If you are from Bradford you are unlikely to be supporting Rotherham, the Sheffield clubs or Barnsley. Id imagine the demographics between Plymouth and Bradford also differ along with actual interest in football.

You know as well as anyone and everyone on this board that if we charged the same price as Plymouth for season tickets (up to £395) then we would struggle to get 9,000 gates.

Same as Sanchez. Man Utd call them noisy neighbours but they were so intent on trying to get one over them they paid vastly over the odds. They didn't need Ronaldo. It was a business decision
