What's wrong with saying "girls"? Plenty of people refer to the men's team as "boys".

Are you looking a bit too hard for something that isn't there maybe?

Exactly. The pc brigade always alert.
How many time have you heard the phrase “Come on boys” or “the boys did well today”

I'm not in the slightest bit interested in the womens team. That's not me being sexist, I just have no interest. No reason not to have their content referenced on this forum though.

I'm not interested either and actually find it baffling that a game that is about the standard of Park Avenue gets so much coverage. Positive discrimination at its worst. Skysports wouldn't dream of having a Halifax Town player as a pundit so why constantly have that annoyance that is Sue Smith with her whining voice. At least the BBC have recognised that Alex Scott has some presenting talent.

To be honest I’m not interested either but I know for sure the OP isn’t and that is why I pulled his use of the word girls. He is just shit stirring, really I should have just ignored him but he is just a &£@&

Its even worse when we get squeaky high pitched voices from PL commentators. Boy is it a switch off! See what I did ?

That’s incredibly harsh on Park Avenue. They would hammer any of the WSL teams. It’s literally Sunday league football. There’s a complete physicality and athleticism mismatch there.

Probably right about the standard. Why it gets any coverage baffles me.

probably due to the viewing figures. If they didn’t get the figures it would have stopped by now

Let’s have it right, it gets broadcast because it’s far cheaper to broadcast than the EFL or even the National League.

I would strongly suggest that the likes of Halifax vs Dover in the National League or random foreign men’s league games would get higher viewing figures than the WSL for example.

World Cup is a different kettle of fish as everyone supports England.

Women’s football is cheap AF to broadcast, and football fans will watch whatever football is on.

Wasn't it on the BBC today?

If so then diversity, inclusion etc, etc would all take on a more prominent factor than viewing figures alone.

    Exactly that.

It might be an uncomfortable truth for some but the BBC and the rest aren’t showing women’s football on merit, it hasn’t suddenly drastically improved to levels that are anywhere near the men’s professional game.

It’s the British societal diversity agenda which has pushed women’s tortoise paced football onto the mainstream channels, and headlines of news regarding players nobody has heard of on the forefront of BBC Football’s website.

Agreed but I bet there's plenty of young girls watching it and hopefully are inspired by it.

I've absolutely no interest in watching it myself, it's really not for me but I don't begrudge it being given a national TV slot to try and grow and improve the game.

There's plenty of other channels or even the streaming services to choose from if Women's football isn't your thing.

So if there is an audience then why not show it?

I doubt if Halifax V Dover would get the viewing figures like the womens game but as no one is willing to show Halifax V Dover it is easy to claim easy way as there is no way to test it.

If the viewing figures were not there the TV companies would pull it

And the problem being? I could understand the moans if the number of channels was heavily restricted and it was taking something off that you were desperate to watch, but the choices out there are bigger than ever. if you don't want to watch something turn over, or just switch off your television set and go out and do something less boring instead

I’ve been to watch the Bradford City ladies a few times if you must know. Or at least I did when it was free admission. The standard is watchable but even if they reached the Womens Super league I could never get the same raw emotion from the womens game that I got when JH smashed that header in at Villa Park or when the final whistle went at Wolves in 99.
The BBC are only putting the WSL on prime time tv to avoid finger pointing that they don’t support equality.

I’m willing to bet you any money that if the BBC showed Exeter v Bradford City live on the 30th Nov that it would surpass the viewing figures of England v Latvia ladies World Cup qualifier on the same night.

Ill take the bet. Now you just have to convince the BBC to show our game
