Away Priority Cards

Losing 250k from ifollow but gaining more than that from the return of 13000 home fans

 

Yup. The thing about 'loyal' away followers is that they don't actually benefit the club financially. Having good away support should, in theory, help the team achieve better results (although that's probably moot) but they don't directly contribute to club coffers.
Doing away with a scheme that nets the club £30k seems daft to me. I can't see why they'd do it. I suspect that the priority points system next season will include points for purchasing away tickets through our ticket office in addition to, not instead of, points gained from buying an away priority pass, season ticket, 1903 Club membership etc.

Is it? Do we know that? Why would the club just chuck away £30k from the away priority card. What's to stop them having a system that includes points from STs, 1903 Club, Away Priority etc and then awarding extra points for away tickets bought via our ticket office?

 

It would have to be surely.

You can't get to the point where simply buying an away priority card holds a greater priveledge than someone having 100 points for going to 20 away games

 

Well if the motivation is financial then let’s make them £100 instead of £30. Would you still buy one ?

If they do what is it going to provide? If it is priority over the points scheme then the points scheme is pointless as you can bypass it for £30. If it is just for points and gives no priority then it isn't a priority card. There is no way they can run both the points scheme and the priority card simultaneously

Why not?
Points are given for various things - ST, 1903 Club etc, as well as away games
If you buy the priority card it gives you X number of points. If you buy the priority card and attend various away games then you get X points plus whatever you get for each away game. So those who have a ST, join the 1903 club, buy an away priority card and attend regular away games will accrue the most points.

 

So what priority would the priority card give you? Or are you just buying points?

 

Yes. It would be one of the several ways of buying points, along with STs, 1903 Club and individual away games.

 

So not a priority card at all? Just points for sale. I think they would struggle to sell it under the title priority card if it doesn't give any priority, it would have to be call £30 for 20 points

 

My next door neighbour got a ticket for Burton. Never goes to vp, no mates in the ticket office, no special contacts. So demand can't have been that big

 

In summary there’s no scheme that will 100% please everyone.
A points system ensures the current away fans always get a ticket.
A priority card helps a select few fans are guaranteed away tickets without needing to ever attend away games and it provides a cash boost for the club.

But there’s some on here that would prefer neither and think the fairest way is to be first in the queue.

 

Or how about a Peterborough style away season ticket where you pay upfront for all 23 away league games. If you can’t or don’t want to go to every game it’s tough shit, you still pay regardless.

 

Be interesting to know what the uptake is on that. Bet its very low.
