When I had it in September last year is was no worse than a bad cold or mild flu as I am in a low risk group. Now I have the vaccine I guess it will be nothing but a sniffle.

The biggest risk at that time for me was passing it to someone else who couldn't deal with the virus, hence the vaccine to protect them. I hate the fear narrative which makes people shit scared of stepping outdoors, even with two vaccines.

I see wee Krankie has banned the Scots from visiting Bolton, Blackburn and Bedford. She has also banned people from those areas going to Scotland.

She seems to be on a bit of a power trip, she has absolutely no authority in banning people from visiting places within the UK.

She seems to believe she runs an independent Scotland.

Germany have banned travel from the UK due to Indian variant even though they are averaging over 8,000 new cases a day

This is the problem. One day there will actually be a problematic variant appear somewhere.

But by that time the public will so used to being sent into fright mode that ends up being okay nobody will listen.

The good news is that the vaccines are proving far more resiliant than even the scientists really expected.

Yes, a really problematic variant could arise, but it does seem that the countless mutations to date indicate that this virus mutates gradually and that should allow us time to adjust the vaccines accordingly.

There is no 100% certainty with this virus but, on the balance of probabilities, it is one that we will vaccinate our way out of.

You never know with this virus but the science has done a fantastic job with these vaccines and unless a variant comes along that beats it things look optimistic

They've already said the vaccine is affective against the Indian variant and most of the new cases are those who haven’t had a vaccine. I’m hopeful that everything will be ok on the stadium front come kick off, unless there’s a variant that manages to get round the vaccine between now and then.

Judging by the 92 you’re the same age as me, if you’re wanting Covid to disappear before you want things to open up then you may have to hide behind your couch for the rest of your life.

Many vaccines are out now, get one and live your life otherwise what’s the point? Covid is unlikely to be going anywhere any time soon best we can do is get it under control and live our lives. Every virus mutates I’d suggest not getting too scared.

Absolutely should be allowed in. The safety percentage following 2 jabs is sufficient IMO.

I’ll be getting my vaccine when I receive the NHSvaccine text.

Society is not COVID-secure enough for a full return to stadiums and match days yet, far from it. We have shown by the second wave that nothing is guaranteed on that front.

A couple of thousand fully vaccinated fans with negative tests within 24 hours of entering stadiums, along with full NHS COVID-19 track and trace compliance (scan upon entry or no entry), and at least 3-4 seats between each bubble, will suffice for next season. No more than that or we’re risking all the good work.

No one is dragging you to the ground, if you are genuinely scared then you don't come to the ground but 2 jabs, and a negative test I'm more likely not to go on that basis.

I will be fully jabbed come then end of July too.

This is one thing I point to on the Corona Virus thread, we have 70%+ with 1 vaccine and 40% with two. People are being vaccinated at present that have a very low risk to Covid, so come the start of the season people with little to no risk of becoming serious ill will have been vaccinated twice.

At that stage if you aren't comfortable it is for you not to turn up, not to force testing on everyone to attend a game.

Rates are fractionally up on last week, but rates are irrelvant, people catch various things over a year, as long as the hospitals aren't full and people aren't dying then there is little to worry about.

People are actually scared of cases these days even with the vaccine, we are in a completely different situation to what we found ourselves in last year.

Only 33% effective is the AZ one based on first dose so not that great. Maybe future tests will show better results.

Precisely this. The first dose isn't sufficiently effective, therefore minimum of 2 doses should be required for anybody wanting to gather anywhere in public, especially in some of the crazy numbers people seem to be mentioning for next season (5k+)

What will it take to be Covid secure in your eyes? The season doesn’t start until August by which time we are planned to have most adults double vaccinated, certainly anyone at risk. How much more can you make it without it seriously effecting your life long term?

We can go on being ultra cautious but with most of us jabbed up I think we have to learn to live with it like we do with Flu and measles. Let’s get us all back in the ground next season.
