New Coach - Michael Collins

If this goes tits up, which lets be honest is highly likely, then there is no coming back for edin. He's put his head firmly on the chopping board.

 

Are you actually kidding me?

I'd have been delighted with a young coach with pedigree who has earned the right to a position like this.

This clearly isn't somebody who has worked his way into a position like this thouhg. It's somebody who is obviously a last resort.

How the hell have we gone from Parkinson to this in two years?

 

There are some positives in the current situation. The coaches will understand the club dynamics, had some input into the retained list and recent recruitment. So they should be able to “ hit the ground running”. Let’s hope the players respond in a positive manner because any unrest will soon translate to poor results on the pitch. We saw enough of that last year.

Hahaha. Spat my coffee all over my laptop logging onto the T&A website. Initially I thought it was the inspired and left field signing of John Collins. Then I opened the article.

Wow. This is like the office boy getting promoted because everyone has resigned and he's the only one left to take on the job. I really hope that Edin gives us some feedback about what his vision is regarding this, and our club, and also gives us insight why the candidates they interviewed didn't warrant the role.

Not having a go at Collins. Fair play for him for having the balls to step up and take the job. He knows he's not the fans first choice, he knows he's not the directors first choice, and it's up to him to turn our heads. Unfortunately, this is just more added pressure to an already pressurised situation. A few more signings will hopefully appease the situation a bit, but who is going to be doing that. Greg also - in his condition? So now he's doing two jobs, or has he handed over his recruitment role to someone else (you know who). Same with the coaches. If our long term plan is to develop young players, then we're now left with no coaches looking after the development squad.

All seems a very botched job to be honest.

I don't want to say it, but aswell as the odds for us getting relegated looking attractive, I'd also be looking out for odds on first sackings. I honestly think Greg might walk away too once the season starts and things don't go our way.

Hope I'm wrong. #CTID and all that, but this club seems to lost a lot of direction.

 

Last resort appointment as no one else would take it if not it could have been done weeks ago.

 

The majority hated pp's style of football but let him off due to the cup final and play off from league 2.
A lot of people moan about how we don't give young coaches a chance in the game and keep giving positions to managers with history, who then fail.
Now we give a young coach a chance to establish himself and its the wrong decision? The club is stable financially with investment in its infrastructure.

as an observer from South Bradford, I'm having a wry smile and a giggle at this announcement, but on the other hand I'm a football fan and believe it or not like to see City doing well, so having taken it in for a couple of hours or so, I do think this could be a masterstroke, as someone as said, its boom or bust, no middle ground with this success or failure is the only outcome, lets hope it's a success.

This appointment without a doubt on the face of it is a disappointment. However the bloke has had wide experience in football playing for teams here and abroad. As I say if we had social media when Jewel and Dolan were appointed the reaction would have been just the same. He could be an excellent coach for all we know. In any case our immediate future on the field depends on him so as fans it’s in our interest to give him a chance and see how he does

 

It's a bit of a baptism of fire for Collins. He's must be supremely confident of his own abilities to take this as a first job...

 

Well here we are after our clinical research, several interviews, a very good short list of candidate, and over a period of 7 weeks we manage to appoint a three man coaching team of Michael Collins, Greg Abbott etc., Although I have been made aware of how bad things are at this club, not in my wildest dreams did I expect this.

The lack of respect for fans is there for all to see. To openly lie to supporters in this way is just despicable. Of course the coach has had a say in what players we sign they have been there all the time. Edin has got his own way now, and on his own head be it. However, our club is in a mess, the only way it will improve in the short term if Collins and Greg can somehow put a competitive team together or should I say Edin put together a team.

To sack Stuart for this!

 

He's had an average playing career and never had a full time coaching role. This will be a disaster

I wouldn't feel sorry for Collins, He'll be gone by Christmas with a fat pay off. Just why appointing Jagger 20 years ago make this not a shit appointment today? Jagger had lots of money to build HIS team. Collins will have no say in , or authority to affect recruitment. He'll be given what hes given to work with. Recipe for disaster.!!
