As I said, T&S have the knack of getting results even against the top 6 best teams, I believe we are unbeaten against the top 6 under them, so no, not worried at all

Grimsby were there to be beat more comfortably than they were. Once we scored there didn’t seem any intent to go and punish them, only to not concede. Bowyer ball I’m afraid.

And rightly so. Payne's attack on his own team mate was unbelievable. Even more so, given Grimsby's dire situation. OK we can all experience a rush of blood to the head now and again, but that was extraordinary. Will he stay at Grimsby? Of course not. Will another Lg 2 or National League side take him on? Would you want a fairly bang average player who headbutts his own team mate during a must-win relegation match, in your dressing room? Payne's moment of madness might prove to be a career ending one as a professional footballer.

me and the lad fell off the couch laughing at that one. Although we did have a few clowns on the pitch today.

A tough watch, but being City fans that's not really unexpected.

A win is a win. 3 points puts us in touching distance of the playoffs.

It's starting to look like 3 from about 8 teams now. It's not overhauling Newport, Morecambe and Forest Green Rovers are being reeled right in and everyone behind them has a game in hand.

Crawley and Harrogate who are both in indifferent form as the next two hopefully will see us overhaul those above us.

At this stage it's getting over the line, liquid football can wait.

I think Evans (maybe aoc) toe poked a clearance in the box at the death, there were two players next to him, miss that and it’s easily 1-1. Were playing on fine margins and it could easily have backfired - were riding our luck and that was a really disjointed performance, we can’t hope to reach the playoffs playing like that with the firepower stuck on the bench.

Awful performance today which only convinced me that we've got a very average side for this league. But we won and that's all that really matters. We might yet sneak into the playoffs and, as I've said many times, results and form go haywire at this time of the season. Anything might happen and we can only hope we keep winning. Results now are all that matter. Having said that I thought Watt was dreadful, Donaldson showd more control and awareness than most and the changes in formation just added to a forgettable game. No idea what our best side is, but our inability to create chances whoever is on the pitch is pretty obvious. Never mind, we won and despite everything we still have a chance of going up. So, on to Tuesday.

Our best performance in recent weeks in my opinion was away at Newport and we got nothing. So this team can play.

As you say Grimsby should have been put to the sword and we had enough experience to certainly make them work for the ball second half but we gave possession and free kicks away too easily even after Sellars had told them not to give cheap free kicks away outside the box, thank goodness Grimsby didn't get a touch onto any of those free kicks in and around the box.

    Sellars commented

The joint-boss also wants to clamp down on the number of free-kicks City have been conceding in recent outings by becoming a bit smarter with referees.

They were frustrated with some of the calls given against them in Monday’s draw at Stevenage but Sellars admits the players need to wise up in those situations

Why, oh why, when we had an extra man, and conceded a free kick just outside the penalty area, did we pull all eleven players back to defend? Surely just by leaving one man upfield you ensure the numerical defensive advantage is even larger?

Not certain that Hurst has got over our rejection

“We changed shape, they didn’t know what to do with it. They tried pretending they were going to play three at the back to start with, but they didn’t. I don’t know if they think you were born yesterday with putting things out in the press and going with a back three.

“They were struggling to cope with our system, tried changing it, they really struggled, they couldn’t get the message onto the pitch"

    In other words;-

"If only they'd employed me, not only would they be virtually promoted by now - but I wouldn't have to deal with idiots like Payne, who I was daft enough to bring to the club!!" :)

Regarding Watt, his performance today was even more surprising having heard his radio interview last week. Everything he said he was working on eradicating from his game he did today, in spades.

Agree. I think we go into the games not to lose instead of to put a game out of sight.
