Brophy was one of the best I have seen for a while mate great control and very very fast......he went past the Jordan Sub Weeds lad like he was not there and he is quick...

 

Where on this thread has anyone suggested we had 4 or 5 stormers tonight? Everyone has said we battled to win a poor, ugly game.

I named the 4 or 5 players people are bigging up on here.

 

Absolutely agree. Was never really a fan until now.

 

The main reason we won the game, IMO, was because Cook came on and was the central focal point of our attack. The rest of the team then slotted into their places around him. Unfortunately Rowe is not that type of player and if we are going to continue with this formation then, for me, it has to be Cook in that position. He should have also been given a penalty when he was shoved in the back but the ref tonight let far too many things go and that was just one of them.

At 0-0, Donaldson was about to come on. It would have been interesting to see who for.

 

Aye. Part of a back 4 that kept a clean sheet and allowed the opposition not a single shot on target.

I think people are forgetting the certain goal that Anthony O'Connor stopped in the first half. He had a great game and I think people just don't like him due to past seasons, armband gate and because he isn't a kiss the badge type of player.

Based on recent performances wood was poor tonight. Passing all over the place and clearing headers going no where. Orient have scored 1 away goal in ages so not likely they would score tonight=obvs clean sheet.

None of the back 4 were poor tonight they were solid and have been since T&S why single players out for criticism it’s not justified

Tough game tonight think I have to give credit to Orient they came to stop us and they did just that. They pressed at the right times in midfield and looked organised in defence and we struggled to break them down they offered little going forward. I think we'll start to come up against that more often now.

Cooke again another impressive game thought Ollie and Cook looked lively when they came on and it gave us a spark when we needed it but we weren't quite at the races tonight. Elliot Watt is a player I really like but it was a match to forget for him tonight his forward passing was uncharacteristically wayward and he went backwards alot fair play to him though plenty of effort and he kept going when his head could have dropped. Chalk it up and move on though a wins a win 3 points oon the board that's the kind of result that sees teams keep a good run going.

 

Really great win tonight.
Orient were out to frustrate and they had a good shape and pressed well making it difficult for us, however they didn't really look to create until they went behind. On their day I think they are a good team but you can see exactly why their form is poor currently.

Cook and Crankshaw changed the game for us. Cook was getting dragged all over and would've scored if he hadn't been pulled back, should've been a pen and a red card that one. The Crankshaw one looked less obvious but he does have a handful of his shirt and looked a pen too. Can't remember us scoring a pen all season so great to finally get one!
Difficult one of how Rowe fits into this team currently, I think he should be dropped back into the attacking 3 but can't see anyone making way for him currently.

Back 4 were excellent again, not sure I really see where all the criticism off Wood is coming from?

Nervy final 10 mins. I'm not convinced by Stevens, allowed Brophy free reign to get forward too much. Clayton did a job closing out injury time well. Burrell looks a pointless loan signing

 

I think on balance orient will probably feel their efforts deserved a point, but we found a way to win. Good substitutions who all made some kind of contribution. Rowe and Vernam were below the standards we've come to expect from them. Such a strong bench though and that really was the difference. I include Donaldson in that comment as he showed great game management getting the ball in the corner and killing some time.

Thought defence were solid but Wood not quite at his best. Also thought Watt was a bit wasteful and at times chose the wrong option.

Cooke was my motm. He's got such attacking drive and is flourishing at the moment. No idea where this was under stuart as I genuinely felt Pritchard was the better choice for that position. Fantastic penalty too.
