Believe me anyone can grow things. I started off knowing very little about it. It needs a fair bit of hard work preparing the ground plus following the plentiful advice available these days on line. I love my time at the allotment and recommend it to anyone.

We all hope this is right. At the end of the day, he played for Bayern reserves which is not much different to someone playing for Man U or C or Arsenal reserves. If he played for the first team, would he be coming here?

Got my allotment early last year and love it. Made plenty of mistakes like having everything ripening at once, not thinning out and leaving courgettes too long to pick. As you say, hard work initially and in keeping the weeds down but, ultimately, very satisfying. I find the time goes quickly down there and I can completely forget about all the other sh*t going on

It is *nice* to sign players from teams like Man Utd and Bayern Munich, sure, but it means very little.

On the one hand they've worked for good coaches; on the other hand they're one face in a crowd of many in these youth systems.

On the one hand they may have glowing reports; on the other hand they've been let go, and these teams will retain anyone with the potential to offer something going forward, even if it's just a reasonable transfer fee.

So who knows. I imagine they will have their flaws, but we're going to be a young team so no point crying about it.

I cannot imagine us challenging next year, but what if we got these signings right?

All it takes is two or three players with that extra quality.

 

I agree Jon. And let's be honest this is the way we are going by experimenting with youth or a more youthful side.

I can't see us challenging but I'm not sure that's a bad thing (OK it won't please everyone) because we almost starting from stcratch again and it will take time.

We may find the odd gem of a player, who knows but we have to just get on with it as this is the model.

 

If they didn't have flaws they wouldn't be playing L1 football. Agree with most of your post but we all have to be realistic, we are a lower league club with limited resources.

 

Bayern, Man Utd etc all have hundreds of youth players coming through their system - just because theyre from there doesn't make them good.
this lad might be, but I'd like to think he isn't going to be seriously competing for the first team, at least unless he stands out like a sore thumb in the development squad games.

he went on trial to Rangers not long ago and they didn't fancy him. they finished below Aberdeen, who we're taking O'Connor from, and their fans don't rate him.

I don't see how anyone can label it a "good signing" just because hes from Bayern - if thats the criteria then anyone we sign from below us in League 1 or from league 2 must be a shit signing, but I haven't seen many criticising the idea of this Dembele kid.

 

It's just a signing with potential, nothing more.. if it comes the start of the season and he's our first choice centre back then I'll be worried.

 

Think people need to get over themselves.. you don't have to be mega enthusiastic about every signing.. it's up to those players to prove people wrong and change their opinions.

 

How do you mean Aberdeen fans don’t rate OcConnor . They certainly liked him till he had a go at them on Twitter. As for Isherwood we will make our mind up when we have seen him play. Of course it doesn’t make him good just because he was a Bayern player. But it doesn’t make him poor as you keep making out because he played for their reserves in whatever league they play

 

Hence my post with regards Vuckic, yet he played at every level for Slovenia from U15 to one senior apperance, now playing in the Dutch league.
