In footballing terms the top 4 divisions are generally regarded as the "professional game". He's yet to prove himself at this level, or any level in particular for that matter so at the moment I'd regard him as an amateur at a professional club. Each to their own though Park. If you want to call him a young pro or whatever else, feel free to do so. He's an amateur in my eyes until proven otherwise.

Does that mean all the young players given “1st year pro contracts” are still amateurs?

Depends how you want to look at. I'd say so until they are proven at professional standard, but you can call them "young pro's" or "pro's in progress" if you want.

Maybe you should look at it the way it has always been? Just an idea!!

Are we just changing the rules so that a signing is deemed worse than what it really is?

    Loving this.

Yes it matters because it’s not true. He plays football for money so he is a professional

it's terminology, not a dictionary definition - don't be so pedantic.

Yes, because that is what the bitter, narrow minded in society do to add weight to their arguments.

Yes he gets paid for it.. however to say he's all of a sudden a pro footballer because he's signed a bit of paper is silly.. he's played at a level that let's be honest is not professional

Just because someone has a slightly different point of view or opposite opinion to yourself doesn't make them bitter or narrow minded.

There are no set rules. It's perfectly reasonable to call someone who's only proven themselves at amateur level an amateur.

Yep. Simply passing an opinion on what I deem as a footballing amateur is very bitter. You don't handle alternative viewpoints very well do you?

Yes. Amateur is a popular football term used to describe someone who isn't good enough. My further posts also suggest my comment was in relation to his ability. Does that help?

There is nothing wrong with a differing viewpoint, but when that differing viewpoint moves the goalposts to suit their agenda then that is where the bitterness and narrow mind kicks in.

Debate is good. I just find it sad that folk have to pick fault in almost everything a person does to suit their agenda. We are currently seeing it with Donald Trump and the Liberal lot.

There are some folk within social media that are so spiteful towards Rahic they would rather see us fail so they can shout from the rooftops how correct they were.
