Why do I feel like I'm getting labelled as a Guthrie fan?

I've made two consistent points:

1) our strike force is weaker with Samuels and Guthrie gone, and only Rumarn in

2) We need to replace him with better before we consider ourselves strengthened.

I thought Guthrie was pap, and said so since pretty much his first game. But that doesn't mean we can employ silly logic like we're better now he's gone or anyone is better than Guthrie. That's wrong. We'll be better when we sign better.

 

Agree and I'm confident a replacement will come in but this needs to be good for if Novak gets injured again we're back to square 1. My previous post was pure sarcasm, pointing out that bettering Guthrie shouldn't be too difficult and I don't go along with previous posts that we played him wrongly. He never made runs that a striker does, never anticipated crosses like a striker does and and at his age, his work rate and attitude are unlikely to develop.

 

Any sign of that klaxon? Very dull day today. So boring we're all bickering over the merits of Kurtis Gurthrie!

I'm quite surprised we haven't seen a striker through the door today, given how quickly replacements for BRE and Samuels were announced after they left. As poor as Guthrie has been for us, I would have thought we would have had a replacement lined up before agreeing to let him go.

 

Know we are working hard on this one Petrov but no surprise this is the position that is taking a bit of extra work

 

We're lighter in terms of numbers, but that doesn't mean we're weaker. Time will tell - if Burrell is even half decent, then 1 half decent player is better than 2 poor ones.

We do need more though.

 

I'm not surprised. Given the interest for Guthrie was there, we were right to pull the trigger and back ourselves fo find better in 2 weeks of the window that remains. It shouldn't be hard.

Wouldn't mind Danny Rowe or the big lad in midfield whose name i can't pronounce.

 

Me too, out of contract in the summer, so you never know, a tempting bid to Oldham might persuade them to sell now.
