A fitting comment, if we believe the doom and gloom around VP?


That steady slide into mediocrity continues to the present day. Without a clear direction as to where the club is heading, it comes as no surprise to see them rooted to the bottom of LaLiga. Like a house bought by an ambitious property developer but then abandoned after a few weeks of building work, it’s a shell of what it could be. The owner refuses to sell and this now rundown building is in a similar state to when he first bought it.

Al-Thani’s cost-cutting measures simply haven’t worked. Players are always going to choose a Real Madrid or Barcelona over Malaga, but to be less desirable than anyone else in Spain is some feat. What is Malaga’s strategy and why would you join them? There’s no ambition to challenge the top 10, no desire to produce an academy to farm future players. There’s nothing. It’s a club without a soul and no one seems to care.

What if anything we can do about it is another question. Lessons don't appear to have been learnt a genuine question are we the only football league club without a manager and expecting a new man (whatever his title may be or whatever restraints he has to work under) to pick up the pieces have a successful season (however that's defined) and all will be well. Maybe this is why we have failed to appoint so far. We used to be a family club a community club I fear that's all gone now. A business and sadly that's what we have become needs to listen to its customers (the paying fans) to provide what they want in our case a winning 1st team. Chances have been given a lot of fans patience seems to be diminishing as shown by the reduction in season ticket sales a very worrying sign as without the fans we are nothing. Sadly it's not our toy and as Blackpool fans have discovered there is nothing we can do about it.
Dropping back to L2 could severely threaten our club the slippery slope is hard to get off
Maybe that's what it will take to find a fresh approach only time will tell

 

Genuine question. How do you define family and community club, and how do we difer from your definition from under previous regimes to now?

 

You can't deny the Family (all in it together) feeling has gone
We had a few grumbling voices under the last incumbents but not to this extent
I feel an us and them situation exists and we the fans are not all that important
Season ticket sales alone show some kind of connection problem
Like you I have been a fan many many years even when we had gates below 5k I felt some kind of affinity
We were a family and stood by our club and its owners because we all wanted the same thing

We judge progress with the satisfaction of seeing our team able to perform consistently at a competitive level, and are able to identify with our heroes on the pitch. This brings a feeling of wellbeing and builds a community spirit fostering a we're all in it together atmosphere. However, the discomfort of a bib and braces change of direction, tends to feed uncertainty and causes a void between the Club and it's supporters. The link of identity has been broken and only time will tell and success will heal. Will this week enhance our togetherness and bring hope for the future?
