Saturday sees the second round tie v Oldham at Valley Parade.

For myself, the last chance to rescue some credibility from this seriously depressing season and potentially set up a 3rd round tie against one of the premiership big guns (bit like Lincoln).

Harry Kewell's Oldham arrive with 5 wins from 6 in all competitions scoring 14 in the process beating Exeter, Cheltenham and Bradford amongst, in that good run of results. McAleny and Rowe have 12 goals between them to date this season.

What are your expectations? I'm pumping for a 3-0 defeat , just cannot see us winning with that inept forward line.

    Rupp out.

Building on Oldham’s recent form, here is a list of results over the past few years. Oldham are a team we have struggled against!
Let’s hope we have some form of perverse siege mentality and that the team shows up on Saturday and does the business.

Back to more mundane stuff like playing football matches.
Does anyone know the state of play with our injury list?
Also do we know when we might see Novak and Hosannah and Cooke?

Yes Kewell to his credit looks to be turning it around, when the draw was made it looked quite a different tie they were looking a very poor side, they have got their act together where as were still struggling with our squad.
I still fancy us to win 2-1 though.

A 2-0 defeat and a further extension of McCalls contract as a reward.

Not grumpy Dave, just bewildered that they extended McCalls contract after what is an awful season. Couldn’t we have just let the season play out before any decision over his future, nobody else would want him.

Pure speculation on my part - I imagine Evan's family stuff will have kept him from training this week and he didn't look fit anyway. They obvs rushed Staunton back too soon, and I doubt if we'll see him this side of Christmas now. Novak was reportedly 'some distance away' only a couple of weeks ago, and I think Hosannah is doubtful. Dunno about Cooke, and Billy Clarke might be out as well. O'D, Paudie A OC BRE Wood French Watt Sutton Pritchard Donaldo and Cousins to start? Blimey

Evans, Cooke and Hosannah all available and in contention. Novak still a few weeks away. A.N Other player out with a muscle injury, hopefully DMH but more likely to be Zeli.

Listening to Ryan's interview I believe he said giving McCall a 12 month extention would give him 3 transfer windows in which to get the team into a position to get promoted next season, the way those that took the managers job on since Rahic sacked McCall realise the job was not easy so do we let him run his contract down and if we're not around a play off place dont renew, then start the managerial merry-go- round about again.
I'm far from happy with the situation but listening to Ryan the club look to be getting a plan for the future together based on youth rather than the transfer market route.
