    Rhodes bargain buster, exactly why he should not be at the club. at least when Lawn was with him he had a streetwise sidekick who wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. Wouldn’t surprise me if the MCBurnie add ons were Lawn, not that wet lettuce CEO we are landed with now.

    Yeah, let's hope he gets a promotion on there this season - which, despite the clamour on here, is actually possible with just 2 points dropped this season.

    Let's just see, that's all I'm saying.

    Last year was just about acceptable, if only because it was better than we had any right to expect.

    League One feels a long way off at this point, I'm not judging us on that level at all but a basic competitive starting 11 should be in place by now and we look a fair bit short of that.

    A performance like that is worrying but I agree, no reason to lose the plot just yet.

    Passion and pride are what I expect players to show on the pitch. McCall had both in spades when he was a player. That's one of the reasons he'll always be one of the City greats for me. But it's not something which counts much as a successful manager. SMc's job is to either instill that passion and pride in his players or bring in players who have it.

    But probably more important for a manager is to have the skills to prepare the team properly, to get the right balance, to do his job in recruiting the right type and mix of players and to understand where the deficiencies are in the squad. And then to blend all of that together with the right preparation, the right tactics, formation and gameplan. Passion isn't a pre-requisite for any of that. It's simply about being a manager and focusing on what's important to get the result. That's where we confuse Stuart the player with Stuart the manager.

    Not really my comments are based on tonight's schoolboy defending.
    This thread clearly states Lincoln not any of the above games.
    Five Nil and the taxi is full of City strikers no room for the defenders should of hired a mini bus.

    Jon. I'll only speak for myself here. We like others have a chance, like others, of promotion. We have dropped a couple of points, maybe gained a point?

    Maybe I'm blinded by the past? But I'm still not sure that the undoings of the last 4 years under Rupp can be just whitewashed by a promotion this season

    Because they have proven that they can.

    What you are saying is that they didn't defend tonight.

    Looking at the changes made tonight, what on earth was Stuart thinking playing BRE? He's got no pace and is useless in possession. He is the last type of defender you would want as an outside centre half in a back three. Mind boggling.

    They didn't defend tonight so I won't defend them.
    The strikers are useless that's every game so far including the Bolton win.

    Clayton in particular has started abysmally.

    I hate to think a Bradford lad would extend his contract purely for money with no real hunger... if this is how he's going to retire, with poor performance after poor performance, he can be left to rot in the ressies for me.

    If he simply isn't up to it, do the club and it's fanbase a favour, accept that, and announce your sudden retirement.
