Did some digging (not four seasons worth) with every striker we have registered, looking at their last 30 league starts to see how prolific they are when starting in the last few years......

Clarke 3 goals in his last 30 starts, first start of those 30 coming in Sept 2017 in L1 for Charlton. Game starts by divisions are split with 12 in L1, 18 in L2.

Donaldson, 4 goals in his last 30 starts, first game in the spell for Bolton in the championship Jan 2019. Four goals all came at City in 18 starts. Started 12 games in the championship with Bolton, no goals.

Novak with 9 goals in his last 30 starts, first game of that spell for Scunny in L1 in March 2019. Scored 7 in 24 L2 starts last season, with 2 in 6 in the final few L1 games the year before.

Guthrie with 13 in 30, first game of his 30 game spell starting Feb 2019 for Stevenage. He had 19 starts in 19/20 bringing 5 goals, all for Stevenage. The end of the season before he had a prolific run of 8 in his final 11 games of that season in L2 for Stevenage.

Vaughan with 13 in 30 also. The only striker to start 30 games with all in the 19/20 season but a mix between L1 & 2 with 8 starts and 3 goals for Tranmere. With 9 of his 13 goals coming from open play.

So going off their recent play, Vaughan and Guthrie would be our most prolific pairing. If you are going from open play goals, the most prolific striker on our books is Kurtis Guthrie. Jesus. Wept.

Idle not disagreeing with any of your points. But don't you think at our level 'splashing the cash' should really = getting a better player? Just think it goes to show how poor our recruiting/scouting is. Surely we can afford to get someone in who is a data wizard. It would be a long term investment.

Bolton are in for a shock when they see how absolutey dreadful the standard is in legaue 2. Lowe will be a good player for Salford and has plenty of experience.

Yates got a 3 year deal with an option of another year. No way any other team was matching that plus hes a northern lad and will more than likely want to stay up north.

I think you fail to understand that Swindon worked the loan market extremely well and it go them to div 1. Losing out on Doyle and Yates won't bother them as they are on another level now...Where are we mate?

 

While I am here I want to make something clear when I refer Billy Clarke to a caravan it's because he's a slow player. My term caravan is related to speed. Once again in other words hes a slow player. It comes for Gareth Barry in the world cup and a player went past him, as Barry chased back he was so slow like a caravan from then me and my mates say a slow player is like a caravan. It's 100% has nothing to do with his nationality.

I don't live that far away from Billy and I even forget he's Irish but I can't forget he is a slow player.
