Restaurants and stuff

We're off back to Waterside on Friday for their Valentine's 6 course set dinner.
Following Friday were going to the Foundry in Leeds for other Half's birthday, courtesy of a Christmas present voucher from our prospective son in law. I'll report back in due course.

 

Got a couple of potentials in the offing but think i'll pitch it for my next Leeds Confidential jaunt.

 

Really liked the Foundry when we went in its early days. They did a 'posh' chicken kiev which was bangin'. Not returned, but should.

Not directly food related but saw this on twitter... People stealing artwork from Ivegate, they’ve got it in camera and appealing for the thief’s better nature for it to be returned.

 

They should release the CCTV footage!

 

Drank in there plenty of times but never eaten. I'll stick to the beer by the sounds of things

 

@millario have you been to Bears Den in town before? If so what do you think? Seen some of the adverts online and looking to pop down at some point.

 

I've not been but it looks decent enough.

It'd just be nice for somewhere to open that does some actual cooking. From what I've seen the Bears Den is mainly charcuterie and the like.

 

Eaten there a couple of times - decent food, good range of beers etc too. Seems like there expanding the menu a bit too. I like it.

 

I'm suprised someone hasn't opened a BBQ/long and slow type place like Reds in Leeds. Decent beers, bar food and brisket/pulled pork/links sausage etc.

 

Going to Jack's fisheries tonight in Crossflatts. God I miss that place since I've moved out of Bingley. The Fish shop around the corner from me is bang average. Greengates Fisheries on Harrogate road it is. Anyone tried the Curry House Kiplings next door? Never seems to be anyone in when I walk past? I keep forgetting to try it. Keep getting my curry's from elsewhere. If they're decent would be a 2 minute walk home to just pick it up and have it at home.

 

Was there new years eve. It's decent. Some people love it. Think curry is such a divisive topic. One mans treasure and all that... Idle Balti is my favourite, and if you live near Kiplings they would deliver.

 

That's where I've been ordering from. Very impressed. I'm not a creature of habit but I'd be furious if I switched and it was terrible when an Idle Balti was available.

 

I got a Kiplings takeaway about 6 months ago - it was absolutely disgusting.
Shame really as it used to have a really good reputation.

 

I barely order something different off the Idle balti menu never mind order from somewhere else haha. Only went to Kiplings on NYE due to the fact I was going with friends.

 

Been going to Kiplings for years now and always enjoyed their curries.

Staff and service has always been very good.

 

Really surprised to hear that. Mind you, I always eat in, and always enjoyed it.

 

Seems to have gone this way in the last 12 months. Eat in and no complaints but get takeaway and it’s average. Shame but the owner and his son had a falling out and the son Stopped working there and it’s not been the same since imo
